Taehyun

"Come in."

I clenched my jaw when the door opened and Hana walked in with an older man in a dark suit. I had serious doubts he was a police officer until he flashed his badge at me.

"I'm Detective Waterston," the man said as he shook my hand. "I'm here investigating the disappearance of Choi Beomgyu. I was hoping you might be able to answer some questions for me."

"Well, I was unaware that Beomgyu was missing, but I'd be happy to answer any questions you have." I waved my hand to the two chairs in front of my desk. "Please, have a seat."

Once I had retaken my seat, I smiled at the two. "Can I get either of you some coffee? Water?"

"No, thank you," the detective replied.

Hana didn't say anything, which I found very unnerving. I'd only met her that once, but she had been quite the chatterbox. Why wasn't she saying anything now?

And how did she get the police involved in this mess?

"So, how can I help you?"

"As I stated," the detective began, "I'm here investigating the disappearance of Choi Beomgyu. We've received information that he was seen in your company right before he went missing. Can you verify that?"

"When was that?" I asked as I brought up my schedule on my computer.

"Ten days ago on Saturday, July sixteenth."

"Oh, yes, of course I saw him that day. I was there for the wedding." I didn't mention which wedding. I did shoot Hana a smile. "That's the day I met Ms. Lim. We ran into each other in the hallway I believe."

Detective Waterston glanced at Hana. When she gave a nod, he turned back to me. "Have you seen Mr. Choi since then? His family doesn't seem to know where he is currently."

"I have, which is why I am confused as to why he is considered missing."

Hana hissed as she jumped to her feet. "I knew you had something to do with his kidnapping. You bastard! Tell me where he is right this instant. You can't keep him from me!"

I smirked as I sat back in my chair and pressed my fingertips together. "As I told your brothers when they attempted to kidnap Beomgyu out of a judge's chambers, the act of kidnapping is forcing someone to go somewhere against their will. I have not done that, thus, I have not kidnapped him."

Detective Waterston's eyes narrowed. "The Lim brothers tried to kidnap Mr. Choi?"

"No, of course not," Hana said quickly. "They were just escorting him to our wedding." She pointed at me. "Which that man took him from."

I so wanted to roll my eyes at this woman's over-the-top dramatics.

I didn't.

"Lim Jin and Lim Kyungho attacked Beomgyu in the chambers of Judge Ryerson out of Los Angeles, California. The judge is the one who ordered them arrested. I'm sure he can give you a statement if you need one."

The detective made a quick note.

"Can I ask why Beomgyu is considered missing?" I asked. "I doubt his family reported him missing. They know exactly where he is."

"His mother made the report and it was backed by Ms. Lim."

It was all I could do not to clench my hands in rage. "I'm talking about his father, brother, and twin sister."

Detective Waterston frowned as he looked down at his notes. "I was told that the mother is the only remaining family."

"You were told a lie. Beomgyu hasn't seen his mother in twenty years and has no desire to ever see her again. She's a monster."
