Taehyun
I hurt like hell but tried to keep the pain I was feeling off my face. I was pretty sure someone was sticking a hot poker into my shoulder, but I didn't want to freak Beomgyu out any more than he already was.
I glanced over to see Chris squatting beside me and Beomgyu. "Did you catch whoever shot me?"
"Not yet, but security is looking into it and the police have been called." He grimaced as he looked at my shoulder. "Someone got you good."
"Was it Hana?"
"No, security has her on camera standing outside the building at the time of the shooting."
"What about someone from her family?" I knew Jin and Kyungho were behind bars, but that still left her father and whoever else was left in that horrid family.
"I'm sorry, sir," Kim said. "I didn't get a real good look at the shooter. I was more concerned with getting you and Mr. Choi to safety."
"That should always be your priority," I said. "Keeping Beomgyu safe is your number one priority."
He was my number one priority.
There was suddenly a lot of commotion by the door. Kim moved to fill the doorway until the police appeared, and then he stepped aside. One of the officers looked into the elevator and then motioned to some people behind him.
I breathed a sigh of relief when I spotted the paramedics. I wasn't one to generally take a lot of drugs, but I'd sell a toe for some pain meds right about now.
Chris and Kim stepped out of the elevator and started talking with the police. When the paramedic came in and knelt down beside me, I reached out and grabbed Beomgyu's hand. I wanted him to stay next to me where I could make sure he was safe.
"This is my husband," I told the paramedic. "He makes all medical decisions for me."
The paramedic smiled. "Noted, sir, but why don't you let me take a look so we can see what kind of decisions he needs to be making." He nodded to Beomgyu. "You can remove your hand now."
Beomgyu quickly shook his head. "I can't. He'll start bleeding again."
The guy held up a wad of bandages. "I've got this."
"It's okay, Beomgyu," I told him. "Let the paramedic look at me."
"But—"
"Beomgyu."
His lips thinned, but he lifted his hand. The paramedic went directly to work. I winced when he probed at the wound, which made Beomgyu's lips thin even more.
Things moved quickly after that. I was bandaged and then a gurney was wheeled in and I was helped onto it.
"Kim," I called. "You need to come with us."
"Of course, sir." Kim stepped into the elevator to stand next to Beomgyu.
Chris leaned into the elevator with his hand on the doors, keeping them open. "Felix and I will be down just as soon as we're done dealing with the police."
"Okay."
There wasn't much else I could say at the moment.
Chris stepped back and the doors slid closed. I glanced at Beomgyu when the elevator started moving. His face was pale and the skin around his eyes was pinched tight.
I tugged on his hand until he leaned down toward me. "I'm going to be fine, baby boy."
"You have a hole in your shoulder, Taehyun. That is not fine."
