Taehyun
My gut clenched when the blood drained from Beomgyu's face. I hadn't wanted to tell him, but I knew I would have to at some point. He had a right to know what was going on.
"There's more."
Chris' eyebrows shot up. "More?"
"Beomgyu told me that Hana planned their honeymoon in Mexico and Columbia."
Chris' frown was immediate. "I'm not connecting the dots here, Taehyun."
I pointed to the little black box. "I think Hana planned to take those to someone in Columbia, someone that would profit from being able to track things."
"You think she was selling my trackers to a drug cartel?"
I shrugged because I hadn't figured that part out yet. "Drug cartel, gun runners, human traffickers, who knows? Maybe all of the above. But there are not a whole lot of reasons for someone to have a bag of those trackers while honeymooning in Columbia unless they were up to something."
"She shouldn't have any of them," Chris snarled. "They are not for public use."
"I can't be positive that these things are your trackers, but they sure looked like that little device you found in Beomgyu's ring."
Chris swung around and stared at Hamill. "Can you take a look at them and find out if they were made by us?"
"Of course." Hamill picked up the box and carried it over to a room with a glass wall. He stepped inside and shut the door. After pressing a button on the wall, a red light came on. He carried the case over to a table and opened it before beginning his examination.
"What is he doing?" Beomgyu asked.
"Hamill is checking to see if those trackers are made by us," Chris said. "He went into that room because it's like stepping into a Ferriday cage. No electronic signals can get in or out once that red light is on."
"Hamill Teller is one of Chris' inventors," I explained. "He's one of the sharpest minds I have ever met in my life, smarter than even me or Chris put together."
"I met Hamill here back when we were attending the university," Chris said. "He was having a hard time of it because people didn't understand what a genius he is, so I made arrangements for us to share a room together. When we graduated, I took him with me."
"And this beautiful lady is Noriko Rina." I gestured to the woman standing with us. "We've mentioned her before."
Rina's manicured eyebrow arched. "All good, I hope."
I just chuckled. I wasn't stupid. I knew better than to cross Rina. She could wipe me off the map with one phone call.
"It's nice to meet you, Ms. Noriko," Beomgyu said, but he didn't attempt to shake her hand.
I was pretty sure he was in the no-touching stage of his anxiety. Considering he was plastered to my side it might not look like it to others, but I knew. He was using me to keep himself grounded.
"So, I guess your trip to Italy got postponed," Felix said to Beomgyu. "I know you and Taehyun have to stay here and help Chris deal with this tracker thing, but the villa will be waiting for you when you're ready."
Beomgyu's eyes widened. "Oh, no, you don't have to—"
"You're right, I don't have to," Felix replied. "I'm doing it because I want to."
I wanted to hug Felix for his words, and for accepting Beomgyu as a friend so easily. He had so few people in his corner.
I knew his father, brother, and sister all cared for him deeply, but I also felt as if he had somehow slipped through the cracks. I seriously doubted his family understood just how much he had suffered at the hands of his mother, but I did, and I damned well was going to make sure it didn't happen again.
