"Will," He turns to look at me with a questioning look, "I think maybe you should be the one to mind where you put your manhood because one of these days it might just rot and fall off due to a disease and I will not be the one to cure it. I also will not consummate our sham of a marriage and if you even try to take me by force you will lose what you think makes you a man. I would rather give myself to someone to get out of this than have to deal with you. You are nothing but a pig."

In three quick steps William is back in front of me with his hand reared back. Within seconds all I feel is a stinging sensation going across the left side of my face, and blood running down from a split in my lip. William smiles at me thinking that he had finally put me in my place. I looked him dead in the eye licked my lip bringing in the blood then spit it at him.

William wiped it off of him then spoke, "After our marriage I will put you in your place. I might even have to start early if this is how you are to act."

I laughed, "You will never control me. I am not yours to have I am not a pet or a slave."

"You will be what I say you are." He glared.

"I'd rather have to try and survive by myself in those woods than be with you." I spat more blood on the ground and smiled sweetly at him in a sarcastic way. "Now if you will excuse us we have better things to do than deal with the likes of you." He rolls his eyes, grabs his brothers' arm, and walks away.

"You okay Lizzy; your face is really red." Del said catching my attention.

"I'm fine Delilah. Let's just get what we need and leave." I look at her then walk back to the stall. The man had everything ready and when I pulled out the copper pieces and asked how many he said on the house and handed me the basket smiling at me with sympathy. That right there tells me that he saw what happened, so I give him 3 pieces for his kindness which is usually how much it would be and walk away before he can say anything.

Del had already gotten all she needed then we went our separate ways. Later that morning she arrived at the shop and started to get to work. We had a busy day with quite a few people showing up. Sometime after noon my mom left to go home and Del and I were managing the shop. She finally spoke up, "He sure did a number to your face it is really swollen. What did your mom ask or say about it?"

"She didn't say anything she look at it frowned and put a cream on it and my lip then got to work. I don't think she wants to know what happened. She knows I tend to have a mouth on me." Del just nods and gets back to work. We work through the night then after the last costumer; we close up and head home. I couldn't wait for bed, I just hope tomorrow is different.
