"And that concludes the tour," the man with the yellow stone embedded in his forehead told me with a gentle smile. "If you ever need anything, I am Vision."
"Well, thank you for the tour, Vision," I replied, feeling a sense of gratitude for his guidance.
"It is my pleasure. Settle into your bedroom now, as tonight Mr. Stark has requested your presence at a commemoration meeting."
"Tony Stark?" I asked, a hint of surprise coloring my tone.
"Correct," Vision affirmed as he opened the door, revealing a beautiful bedroom beyond. The room was still basic in its furnishings, yet elegant in its simplicity. Soft, neutral tones adorned the walls, complementing the plush bedding and tasteful decor.
I stepped inside, taking in the serene atmosphere that contrasted sharply with the tumultuous events of recent days. The Avenger's headquarters, with its state-of-the-art technology and quiet efficiency, felt like a sanctuary amidst the chaos of my former life.
"Thank you, Vision," I said gratefully, turning to him before he could depart.
He inclined his head slightly. "You're welcome, Ms. Solokov. If you require anything further, do not hesitate to ask."
With that, Vision left me to settle into my new surroundings, his presence a reassuring reminder that I was now among allies, albeit ones with their own complexities and histories. Moments later, there was a knock at my already open bedroom door. I look up to see a kid in a NASA T-Shirt standing with a big grin on his face.
"Hello?"
"Hi!" The door swung open, revealing Peter Parker with an energy that filled the room. He practically bounded inside, his movements animated and his smile wide. "I'm Peter Parker!" He extended his hand eagerly, shaking mine with a firm grip. "Mr. Stark mentioned we'd be getting a new recruit, but I didn't expect to meet you so soon!" His words spilled out in a rush, punctuated by his genuine excitement.
As he realized he was talking a mile a minute, Peter blushed slightly and withdrew his hand, looking down sheepishly. "Sorry. Mr. Stark says I can be a bit too much sometimes."
I chuckled softly, charmed by his enthusiasm. "No need to apologize. It's nice to meet you," I replied warmly, offering a friendly smile. The room suddenly felt more welcoming with Peter's presence, his youthful energy bringing a touch of spontaneity to what had been a rather solemn introduction.
He glanced around the room, clearly eager to make me feel at ease. "So, uh, this is your room, I guess. It's not much yet, but Tony's always upgrading stuff," he explained, gesturing to the elegant yet minimalist decor. "I'm sure you'll make it your own in no time."
"Yeah," I chuckled softly, amused by Peter's infectious enthusiasm.
"Anyways," Peter continued eagerly, his words rushing out in his excitement, "who else have you met on the team? I mean, there's the OGs like Captain America, Iron Man, the Black Widow—ooh, and Hulk! And I'm Spider-Man!" He struck a playful pose with his hand, pretending to shoot webs from his fingers.
I couldn't help but smile at his enthusiasm. "Oh, uh, Vision gave me a tour, and I spoke to Captain America and Black Widow earlier."
"Amazing!" Peter practically bounced on his feet, his energy palpable. "You're going to love it here, Alana!"
"Thanks, Peter," I replied warmly, appreciating his genuine excitement.
He suddenly checked his watch, then did a double-take. "Oh my! I have to go, I'm so sorry. I have so much homework to do!"
"No problem, Peter," I assured him with a smile. "Good luck with your homework."
"Thanks!" Peter hurried to the door, still brimming with energy. "See you later, Alana!" With a final wave, he dashed out of the room.
