I don't know what's gotten into me lately. It's just like every time I look at Bri, I realize that she's the only one who actually makes me happy. Maybe that's because we've been friends for 10 years. Yeah, that's it. We're just friends though, I couldn't imagine getting serious with her.

I rolled over on the couch, looking for Bri. I had fallen asleep again during the movie, but I guess she just let me sleep.

"Briiiii!" I pouted as I slowly walked up the stairs looking for her. On the last step, I slammed my pinky toe on the railing. And let me tell you, it hurt.

"Oh sh-"

"Chris? I thought you were asleep... I went upstairs to go grab you a blanket. A-are you okay?" She asked, pointing to my reddened toe.

"Uh actually, can you help me up?" I said as I stumbled even more.

"Sure." She placed both of my hands on her shoulders and guided me up the last step. I let out a chuckle and we both fell to the floor.

"You're always hurting yourself I swear!" She laughed, pointing at my toe. Dang, she has a nice smile. I couldn't help but laugh too.

"Let's go back downstairs ma'." I said as I played with her bracelet.

"But I'm comfortable here!" Bri sat up and folded her arms as she made a pouty face at me. I caught her off guard and tickled her, causing her to roll on the floor laughing.

"I said let's go back downstairs." I said trying to be tough.

"You're not my dad Chris. But okay." She frowned, walking back down the stairs. I got up and tried my best to limp down the stairs with my throbbing pinky toe. The pain was no joke.

"Chris move faster with your crippled self!" She yelled, plopping herself down on the last step as she waited for me.

"I'm here already geez." I sat down next to her and looked at her eyes.
"Why don't we have a staring contest?" I smirked.

"Uh, no. I don't feel like it right now."

"Ugh. How 'bout the loser has to do whatever the winner says."

"Fine. But you still owe me an ice cream cone from this morning when I beat you to the bus stop." She laughed.

"Alright. Ready, set go." She stared into my eyes for 3 seconds before I saw them starting to turn red. I slowly moved my face closer to hers, and caught her off gaurd as I blew in her face.

"Not fair! You're such a bitch Chris," She said in between laughs.

"Welp," I stuck my tongue out at her and smiled.

"Ugh okay, what do you want me to do then?" Bri spoke, clearly irritated.

"Uh," I looked down at my hands before continuing "I want you to..." I leaned closer and licked my lips, thinking of what to say. "Nevermind, it's stupid," I mumbled. What would I look like asking her on a date?

"Seriously? You're always playing games!" She looked at me for a brief second before she began laughing again. Maybe I should've asked her... I shook away the thought and pushed it to the back of my mind. Nah.

"Hey it's almost dark out...When's your mom coming back?" I asked Bri, waiting for her response.

"Uh she's on a business trip, I forgot to tell you. Can you stay the night? You don't have to, it's just that I don't want to be a-"

"Sure... Anything for you best friend." I cheesed as I poked her in the stomach.

"C'mon I'm hungry." Bri snapped me out of my lost gaze and grabbed my arm as she tried to drag me to the kitchen.

"Wait." I stopped her for a brief moment as I tangled my fingers in hers and continued walking to the kitchen. She turned her face away and smiled softly as she let out a relaxed sigh.
