Avery and Daryl waited in the tower for Rick to start the plan.

"If you say no, Rick says yes," Avery smirked to herself knowing Daryl would've never let her do this. The moment she laid eyes on Rick she began shooting any walker in her sight line.

She watched Daryl track Rick, killing any walker that got too close. She kept gunning down the walkers that remained. There were so many, that only motivated her more.

"He did it!" Avery said ecstatically.

"Light it up!" Daryl yelled so everyone could hear while motioning with his fingers. Avery continued to shoot the walkers.

Everyone else in the group had joined in, killing them, to make this place secure, to make it safe.

"Fantastic," Carol said to us all as we all regrouped ready to enter the field.

"Nice shootin'," Daryl said giving me a light shove. She smiled thankfully at him.

"You okay?" Carol asked Lori while entering.

"I haven't felt this good in weeks," Lori answered smiling ear to ear.

"Good," Avery added to the conversation.

"Oh! Oh! We haven't had this much space since we left the farm." Caro expressed happily while smiling and laughing walking into the open grass. Avery couldn't stop smiling, seeing what this small group had accomplished.

"Whoooo!" She heard T-dog scream happily. She loved seeing everyone so happy.

Avery sat on top of the bus with her feet dangling off. She was with Daryl, keeping him company. They were in comfortable silence as Avery listened to the sound of the fire cracking and crickets.

"Ya remember that talk we had? Bout findin' a home?" Daryl asked her thinking back on that night.

Then.

Avery sat outside the storage unit, alone. It was starting to slowly snow outside. It's been snowing for a while now, she knew winter was almost over. She was just waiting for it to be spring. Her favorite season. She wasn't cold though, she had multiple layers on that Daryl had found for her while he would leave to go hunt or scavenge.

She watched as the snowflakes fell from the sky. It was very pretty seeing the change of scenery. She heard the door open and didn't even feel like seeing who it was. She was too focused on the scene in front of her.

"There ya are," Daryl said with a sigh of relief. "I've been lookin' for ya everywhere."

"Sorry." She murmured back barely audible but he heard. She watched as he sat down next to her after closing the door. They just sat there enjoying the other's company for endless minutes.

"Do you think we'll find a new home? One that we can stay for a while and be safe?" She asked him innocently. She hated that they would go from place to place never staying more than a night. She doesn't know the last time she slept for more than 3 hours.

"I hope so, but it's a nasty world out here Aves. Safe's just another word we throw around in hope it lives up to its meanin'" Daryl answered. He was giving her an answer he had to often remind himself of. 'Aint nowhere safe no more'.

Aves.

Daryl had given her that nickname about 2 months ago. During the start of the winter, around her birthday. She finally got her nickname, and Daryl was the one who gifted it.
