Steve POV
I walked out of school and to the DX. I didn't have to work today, I just had nothing to do. So, I figured that I could bother Soda instead.
"Hey Soda" I called, dragging out his name, as I walked over to the register inside of the DX. He looked at me with a questioning expression, so I asked him "what?" In response."What are you doing here? Shouldn't you be with y/n or something?" "What?" I asked him defensively, "I have to spend all my time with her now or something? I can't just walk around and say hi to my friend?".
"You didn't talk to her yet, did you?" He asked me, reading me like a book. I groaned and leaned against the counter, "no we haven't-" "didn't I tell you not to hold it off?" He interrupted me.
"Hey hey, before you say anything, we're meeting up tonight to talk. So no need to lecture me Soda" I explained and he looked somewhat more relieved.
"Well good, I'm glad that you'll get an answer then about what's going on" he said, and then turned his attention to a customer that had come in....
My heart beat anxiously as I made my way to our meeting spot, once it was finally time for us to talk. Although I had been dying to know what y/n was thinking all weekend, I feel as though I would much rather do anything else than to talk to her right now. I just needed to calm down, of course I wanted to talk to her and figure this out. I mean, I kissed her for gods sake!
We have to work this out.
A smile grew across my face and I began to feel excited seeing y/n's figure appear from the distance, just as I had the second time we had met here. My fear had all melted away until we sat in silence again.
I had really grown to hate silence these last few days.
"Ok we need to say something" y/n finally spoke and lightly laughed. I couldn't help but to return a chuckle, "yeah I know sorry, I just want to know how you're feeling before I say anything that could ruin whatever we have going on" I spoke to her with full honesty. She turned her head at me as if she had not expected that answer, "oh? Well I'm sure that wouldn't happen, but I understand".
She smiled at me and I felt my heart start to beat faster, maybe she did have feelings for me? I mean, if she didn't see how I could ruin our relationship by saying something wrong, then maybe she didn't think that the kiss was wrong? I don't know, I'm sort of spiraling right now.
Suddenly she looked down at her hands and started fidgeting with them as if she wanted to tell me something.
"So, I um" she began but gave up and sighed, looking down to avoid eye contact with me.
"Hey" I told her and placed my hand on her knee "no matter what you say, I'm not going to leave you. You can't get rid of me that easy" I said to her and laughed, also making her laugh which made me happy.I cared too much about this girl to let her go over something dumb.
"Ok" she eventually said taking a deep breath "I like you, Steve. And I'm sure that you feel the same towards me, because like you kissed me and all, but if you don't and you realized that you didn't after you kissed me I totally understand-" I stopped listening to her after this.
All I heard was that she liked me too.
So I leaned over, cutting her off, and kissed her. Again.
She was taken aback, but kissed me in return. I mean obviously, she had just admitted her mutual feelings for me.
"Y/n, of course I like you" I told her, but ended up kissing her again. She let out a deep sigh "ok thank god, that would have been embarrassing" she said and laughed, but I wasn't really comprehending anything that she was saying.I was just smiling and staring at her, thinking about how beautiful she was.
"I mean, come on, I kissed you! That was a dead giveaway. I don't know how you could have any doubt in your mind after that" I told her with a laugh, and she jokingly shoved me with her shoulder.
"Yeah yeah, ok whatever" she grinned at me, and suddenly I knew that this was the perfect time to ask her out.
