Trevor stood there for a second, his eyes fixated on the boys hand. Still outreached towards Trevor. It took a second to process what the boy was doing.
'He wants to shake my hand?' Trevor thought, still having not reached out to shake Alex's hand. He just stood there, staring at it, as if he had never seen a hand before in his life. This made Alex feel awkward and he immediately pulled his arm back resting it on the back of his neck.
"Oh I'm sorry," The boy said and Trevor flinched. This time however, Alex noticed the flinch.
"Hey are you okay?" Alex asked and Trevor still not looking at the boy, just nodded.
"Okay....anyways my name is Alex, I'm new here and I didn't know where to sit,"
"Well a-any seat around mine is free..." Trevor told the boy, who now nodded himself and moved one over. The bell rang soon after and the class started to file in. Trevor could already hear all of them talking about him as if he wasn't here.
"Someone is actually sitting by that loser?"
"Did the *** finally get a boyfriend?"
Now even Alex could hear them and was shocked. Why would they treat Trevor like he was the plague? He was speechless, but he was not going to let any of what they said get to him. He turned to look at Trevor.
"Why is everyone talking about you, and partially me, like that?" Trevor without turning to look at him just said.
"Because you, sir, are sitting by the only gay guy in the WHOLE city," Now the comments made more sense, and than the words of what he truly said soaked in.
"YOUR GAY?" He said almost losing his composure and Trevor slinked away, once again in fear.
"Y-yeah," and suddenly he found an interesting speck on his desk.
"Cool," was all Alex said before turning back around to look back at the front of the room waiting for the teacher to enter the room.
Now Trevor was shocked, wasn't this kid going to say he was disgusting or something? Alex noticed that Trevor was looking at him and he turned and smiled at him.
50 minutes later and both boys walked out of the room into the hell that was known as the 'High School Hallways,' and while everyone avoided Alex, they all bumped and shoved Trevor and it hurt Alex to watch.
"TREVOR!" Alex shouted, and everyone, including the boy he had been trying to get to notice, all looked at him. Some of them stopping to see if the new boy would, 'Give Trevor what he deserved,' while others just stopped to see who, and why this boy was shouting. Trevor was curious of why Alex ad called him and stopped and looked at him. Alex soon rushed to his side and smiled.
"Would you mind if I walked you t your next class?" he asked and Trevor's jaw dropped, as did most of the kids in the hallway.
"S-Sure," He said, a slight blush against his cheeks, and they were off.
"Trevor, can I ask you a question?" Alex asked him.
"You just did," he replied, to which Alex just laughed.
"I'm serious,"
"Okay, go ahead,"
"Do you have any friends? I haven't seen anyone run up to high-five you, or anything like that." Alex asked and than stopped when he noticed Trevor has stopped walking as well. When Alex looked closer he could see Trevor shake slightly and looked a little paler than he had.
"No," was all Trevor said and Alex had to lean in to hear it, because of the softness in Trevor's voice.
"No?" He repeated to make sure he had heard right and Trevor nodded to confirm he had heard correctly. Alex gasped and a frown grasped it's place on his face. It took him a moment but he found his composure again and looked at Trevor with a slight determination in his face.
