A new story of life

"And why did you want to apply for this job?" A man in a lab coat asked.

"Well if I am being honest I want to help and to get a different life." A young lady responded

"Okay and your name ma'am?" He took out a pen and notebook.

"My name is a bit weird, Ten."

"Alright Ms. Ten we will give you a call if you are hired, which you probably will be since our staff are short."

"Thank you Mr.?" Ten asked

"Mr. Chap."

Driving home, Ten was tired. The drive was two hours away, luckily the job she applied for let's their workers live there. Ten finally got home after a long drive. She didn't have the money to buy a good place but all was well, it's just a shack sized room. One bed, a table and chair, and another room as a bathroom and sink. The person who gave it to her said it's the only place that she can live for free since he really wanted to get rid of it. Ten returned the car back to its owner, parking it to her neighbor's yard. She went back home and opened the shed door. Going straight to the mirror and taking the blind fold off her eyes, a number was exposed in her eyes, a number 10. It was glowing white over her two pupils but didn't block her vision. Inside she would take it off but outside Ten would hide her eyes, knowing the secret behind it.

"I hope I get the job, I really do!" Ten hopped a little bit just like a child she was.

A dog came over to her and sat down patently.

"Yeah you're right it is late now." Looking around she grabbed a bag of dog food. "Here's a meal to my favorite :)"

Pouring dog food into a bowl the dog immediately start eating from it. Ten only watched her dog eat it, not having any other food in the house. Eh she wasn't even feeling hungry, and Then doesn't even like to eat those funny foods.

"I'll be right back at 9." She said to the dog "Want to see something"

Going out, Ten felt the breeze hit her face. The tube that was given to her had really changed her, The man was wrong. Ten looked at her hands, and a small white sword appeared. This made her smile, and soon she jumped into the sky and turned into a shadow. A gray and dark purple ish mist, Ten is now the mist. Traveling in air sometimes going higher some times going lower. Then thin looking swords came out, some were white, while others were golden and blue. The color of the swords have different abilities, the White one being normal, the golden one dealing the most damage and the Blue one being random. After flying around for a long time in the sky, Ten got tired and went back. She entered the shed and fell on her bed with just a mattress and blanket. The man who sold the house to her was really rude and nobody likes him. The neighbors were really nice and helped her make her home more suitable and let her stay with them if she needed it. Soon her dog nine came over, Ten looked into his eyes and saw the same white glowing number over the dog's pupils.

"Good night 9." Ten closed her eyes.

Nine did not fall asleep as soon as her, he was once like Ten. Having legs and hands, but he was experimented on and they turned him into a dog. They gave him a green veil that allows him to turn into any animal, and have a great strength, speed and size. Heck he could even turn into a monster or dinosaurs. There was a. Total of 10 experiments, before the place was discovered and shut down. And where may the lab rats be? Dead, they were killed by the scientists after they learned the police figured it out, most of them were kids 5-10. Ten was their last one, but the doctor who was supposed to deliver her was caught by the police and he had to hide her. Nine was extremely lucky he turned into an ant and crawled away into the cracks and left the building as a wolf. The veils they took make them into this, making them have numbers in their eyes. And their curse? They never die no matter what, to some they say it's a gift but to them they say it's a curse. The most normal lab rat is one being the most human but she could sometimes go insane so they had to put her down. They made it so that the higher the number the harder and more stronger they are. So Ten would be the strongest experiment while Nine could still die, if he is killed. Soon Nine did close his eyes and he did fall asleep next to Ten. The two are family now even if one is just a dog.

"You hired me." The voice on the other line spoke out.

"Really?" Ten asked "When do I start?"

"You can start tomorrow but if you want you can start today."

"That's fabulous, I'll come over and can you bring my pet?" Ten asked, looking at Nine who was laying on her bed.

"You can but I want you to keep an eye on it and also pack your things if you are aiming today."

"Okay, sounds good." And she hung up. "We got the job NINE!"

Ten picked up nine and hugged him.

"Now we need to pack and yes I'll pack you stuffy." Ten put on her blind fold and went to her neighbor's house and took her small suitcase she kept there.

Ten told the old couple the news and they are happy for her. Ten is now 18, but she acts like a 10 year old. Bidding goodbye to the couples she went back to her run down house and started to pack which there is really nothing much. Her neighbor bought her a phone to call since she barely has money to feed nine and herself. Her neighbor wanted to buy a huge house for Ten but she said it's too much and that they already did enough.

"All done, let's go." Ten picked up Nine and grabbed her suitcase. "Mr. Ranger will drive us."

(Time skip to when they get there.)

"No visitors today." The voice on the speakers said

"Uh I am not here for a visit, I applied for a job?" Ten asked, "I got a phone call."

"Yes you must be, Ten." The speaker said "Please come in."

The door in front of them opened up and they went in. Mr. Ranger had to leave since he is not allowed here. Ten was greeted by Mr. Chap who introduced her to another nurse, Mrs. Yu.

"Mrs. Yu, may you show Ms. Ten where to go and give her her outfit?" Mr. Chap asked.

"Of course, and Ms. Ten your dog is very cute." Mrs. Yu said

"Oh thank you very much, his name is Nine." Ten set down Nine "He's a good dog."

"Okay come this way, I'll show you your room."

Ten followed the older woman and she brought her to a small room. Mrs. Yu let Ten be prepared and told her that another nurse will show her around the hospital. Leaving Ten and Nine alone. Ten unpacked everything Mrs. Yu already gave her her work uniform which is a light blue shirt and matching pants. There is also a pair of T-shirt and shorts when the weather is hot.

"Well Nine, welcome to our new life!"Ten laughed
