I was 16 when we first laid eyes
Scrawny little fucker yeah I was that guy

The two boys walked back to their room. The mood had lightened and Tenn was insistent on looking after the two survivors they found.
"If you had to, like if you had to. Which one?" Isaiah asked.
"Probably a gorilla. Crocodiles have too many teeth." Lamar replied.
"Yeah, but the gorilla could easily punch you in the boingloings, and that would hurt."
"You're saying you'd rather fight the crocodile and get dismembered?"
"I'm just playing devils advocate, that's all."
They usually have stupid 'would you rather' conversations on the way back to their room. It's their weird tradition.

The door creeks open, making a high pitched squeal. As Isaiah begins to clean his eye, Lamar mutters something. "I've been having more nightmares recently." "Yeah?" Isaiah walks over and sits down on Lamar's bed, next to him. "I dunno why, I've just not been able to feel calm. Like, I've always got this feeling that something's gonna go wrong, or one of us is gonna get hurt." There's a long silence before Isaiah speaks. "We can't predict when or where that kinda stuff could happen. Nowadays, anyone could get hurt anywhere. But you gotta just..." he pauses. "Focus on the now. Not the later." Lamar looks at him. "Dude, you suck at comforting people." He laughs. "But thanks, anyway."

"You want me to sleep with you tonight?" Isaiah asks, genuinely.
Since they were young, Lamar would have bad nightmares, and Isaiah would sometimes sleep in his bed to make him feel less alone. It worked, most of the time.
"Yeah."

His stupid cowboy hat sat on the drawer by the broken window. Isaiah and Lamar weren't related, but they were brothers. Brothers until the end, that's what they always said. "Alright, c'mere. You tryna go to bed all caked up? Like I ain't got a sweet tooth? What did you think this was, bro." Isaiah grabbed Lamar, pulling him closer. "Get off, man. You're such a freak." Lamar laughs. "Goodnight, bro." "Night."

Lamar Everett
Eight years old
Reason for admission:
Anxiety/panic disorder

Observance Notes:
Lamar is a very promising and bright student. He displays the standard that Ericson's aim to achieve with problematic students. He shouldn't be discharged yet, though. More work is still to be done, but I believe he can explore his academic potential here, at Ericson's.
He still has episodes of paranoia and anxiety, but we are seeing an improvement.
