Bitch, I ate one roach and I made a lot of money
He woke up on the floor again. Sometimes, Isaiah can't tell if he rolls out of bed, or if Lamar kicks him off it. He's a heavy sleeper. Which in this scenario, isn't good, since Ruby has been calling him for a while now, as one of the survivors has woken up.
"Isaiah! What are you doin'? I need you here!" Ruby bursts through the door, looking at the ridiculous sight. Isaiah groans, sitting up. "Mmkay, comin'..." he sleepily trudges towards the door, forgetting his hat. His hair is left in the ponytail from yesterday, since he forgot to take it out. He's been more forgetful recently.
"The kid's freakin' out, won't let me get close." Ruby sighs. "I thought maybe, you could help calm him? Y'know, since you help Lamar and Brody when they get all...scared." She looks at him, hopefully. "Yeah, I can do that. No problem." He smiles. He's good at helping people through panic attacks. He approaches the door, raising his arms to show he's unarmed. Slowly, he enters the room. There's a young boy, shielding the girl on the bed. He looks frightened, but is clearly trying to protect the girl. "Hey, it's okay." He slowly approaches the chair by the desk and sits down. "I'm not gonna hurt you, you and your..." he looks at the girl. "Mom? Sister? Whatever, you're safe. Both of you. We're here to help." There's a long silence.
"We can't trust you." The boy speaks.
"I get it, I totally do. You're a smart kid. Good survival instincts." Isaiah nods as he speaks. He makes sure to keep his distance from the boy, so he feels more in control. "My name's Isaiah." He smiles, slightly. "You wanna tell me yours?"
"...Alvin Junior." Progress. "That's a cool name. You named after someone?" Isaiah asks. Alvin Junior just looks away. "Well, my first name is actually Carmen." Alvin Junior looks at him. "That's a girl's name." He says.
Isaiah laughs. "Yup. That's why I go by my middle name. It's the same name as my dad. So, I guess that would make me Isaiah Junior."
The kid seems more at ease, but not fully. He's still guarding the girl, but his face is less serious.
"Some people call me AJ...for short."
"You mind if I call you that?"
"...okay."At this time, the worst possible time to remember this, Isaiah remembers his hat. "Shoot, I forgot my hat." AJ looks at him, puzzled. "Its a cool cowboy hat, trust me. Super cool. I'll go get it, stay there." He rushes out of the room to get his hat, putting it on, and rushing back into the dorm.
"See? Cool, right?" Isaiah points to his hat. "When are you gonna retire it? You look like a douchebag." Lamar is stood behind him, with an amused look. "Shut up, dude." AJ laughs, slightly. Lamar walks into the room and crouches down at AJ's level, extending his hand, causing AJ to flinch. "I'm Lamar. Nice to meet you." AJ hesitantly shakes his hand, and mumbles his name.
"Hey, AJ," Isaiah begins. "Would you rather-" "dude. Not now!" Lamar cuts him off before he says anything too inappropriate.
