Chapter 8

Mackenzie

  The closeness of both Dominic and me had my heart racing. I hadn't had any romantic connections with anyone so this was freaking me out. There was something about him that was drawing me in.

  I couldn't help but want to be near him all the time. When I was holding onto his tie and both of us were staring at each other I almost wanted to lean in and kiss his plump pink lips.

  But then again it's like my brain forgets he's engaged. I shoved him away immediately feeling horrible. Going to a bar with him was probably not the smart idea but Julie was here to be with me and Claire wanted to go to a bar.

  "What was that all about?" Julie asked as we waited for Dominic to pay for his suit. I gulped trying to figure out myself.

  "I was helping him put on a tie" she laughed lowly. "He lives in suits I'm sure he knows how to put on a tie" she had a very good point and I felt very stupid and caught.

  "Honestly I don't know he asked for help with picking a suit and I guess I got carried away"Julie nodded and smirked.

  "You know y'all would make a great couple. You two make more sense than him and Caroline. They act more like siblings rather than a couple that's engaged." I chuckled.

  I turned and saw Dominic was staring at me but I looked away. "Okay let's go" I said I got Claire's number and sent her the address to Andy's bar.

  Once we got there Andy made it around the bar to hug me "hey you look like you're in a better mood then last time" I smiled and nodded.

  "Yeah I'm here with some work friends and I'm famished" he laughed and lead us to a great table at his bar.

  "How do you know the owner?" Asked Julie I smiled

  "That's Andy he's my father's best friend and a second father to me" she nodded "nice so I'm assuming you get everything here for free?" I laughed.

  "No I don't actually I'm still a paying customer only when his wife Savannah is here then I'll get free food" we laughed.

  "What a second father" said Julie jokingly

  "No he's amazing it's just he's big on principles and manners while Savannah is just the biggest softy".

  "They sound like good people" said Dominic I smiled and nodded.

  "The best! My mother died during childbirth with me and Savannah and Andy helped my dad all the time with me. See Savannah couldn't have kids so I was her baby too" they nodded.

  "I'm sorry" said Claire and I smiled.

  "Please let's not talk about sad shit the food here is amazing so let's order" I grabbed the menu and ordered my usual braised beef stew.

  Andy brought our food adding a free slice of the best chocolate cake you'd ever try for all of us. We all ate laughing and talking. The occasional looks both Dominic and I shared had my heart fluttering and me downing another shot here and there. Next thing you know Claire, Julie and I were laughing loudly and dancing at a bar. While everyone sat and drank we looked like idiots dancing. Dominic sat drinking his whiskey staring at us.

I had to be honest I hadn't had fun like this ever. So letting loose was making me feel alive. I liked this new addition to my life. However I didn't like the constant feeling of needing to pee.

I walked over to the bathroom and did my business when I came out Dominic was standing waiting for me. "You okay?" He asked looking a bit worried.

I smiled "why wouldn't I be?" He had his hands in his pockets and shrugged a bit "you seem a bit drunk" I laughed I was a bit drunk but I could still walk straight and I knew my surroundings.

"I'm not that drunk honestly I'm fine I'll probably be done drinking though I do need to drive home" he shook his head.

"You aren't driving home I'll drive all three of you to your respected houses" honestly that was the best case scenario cause even if I was fine I knew driving wasn't the right answer.

"Okay thank you" he nodded and helped me back to our table "okay girls your time of fun is over I'm driving you all home" Claire and Julie sighed and grabbed their bags.

Once outside Dominic strolled to his all black Rolls Royce a car I'd always wanted! "Oh my god!" Said Julie as she fan girls over the car I hid my love and excitement for it for another time.

"This car is sexy" I said as I walked around it and Dominic smirked opening the door for me letting me sit in the front with him. I gladly accepted and got in the girls sat in the back talking about everything and anything.

I was feeling tension between both Dominic and me wanting to jump over to his side and make out but turning to look out the window was my safe spot. Dominic dropped off Julie and Claire off first leaving me alone in the car with him. I'm sure he did that on purpose.

"Turn right here that's my apartment building" I said pointing when he parked he looked at me "do you need help going up?" He smirked and I laughed.

"No I don't but thanks anyways" he nodded before I got off I decided to do one stupid thing. I leaned over and kissed him.

He immediately grabbed the back of my head and deepened the kiss. God this felt amazing. My body was starting to go towards him when Caroline's face appeared in my memory.

I immediately shoved him back "I'm sorry I just needed to do that but it won't happen again!" I stormed out of his car and ran inside the building.

That stupid mistake might cause me this job and the guilt might even kill me. This is why I don't go out and try to have fun!
