Dominic

Both Caroline and I arrived an hour early before anyone was here. 5am the clock on my wall showed we planned to tell our parents that we didn't want to be together we were just waiting on them to arrive.

Not soon after the doors opened and in entered our parents. "Well what is it that's so important you have us arriving at this ridiculous hour" said Caroline's father Travis Edge.

"Both Caroline and I don't want to proceed with the marriage arrangements we came up with these ideas instead that we think are actually pretty good!" I took our files that had pie charts and data reports. Before they can take the papers Travis laughed.

"No" he said and Caroline immediately sighed "please dad just let us explain what we came up with will do good" he shook his head and sat on my sofa with his wife while my parents sat in front of me.

"No Caroline and that's final!" He stated more roughly.

"This is my life too and what I say goes!" It was my turn to talk and this was slowly pissing me off. I didn't want to marry Caroline not one bit but they were determined to force us into it.

"Listen closely Dominic our company isn't doing the best we owe money to our investors and if not they'll take the company and kill it to make room for their other investments. When your parents told us about the merge we said yes because that's the best option for our company and the name Edge won't be tarnished. In fact it'll become more common than ever being intertwined with Frost so this is Caroline's future. If you both refuse we'll be ruined and therefore Caroline will too she needs you especially if she wants to continue that school of hers" Caroline's eyebrows furrowed.

"How do we owe money I thought that was all taken care of?" She asked faintly all hope draining from her body.

"Your mother likes to shop and did a bit too much damage on our finances." She laughed.

"Me? How about you not paying taxes in two years now you owe a few millions to the IRS" she stated and I immediately looked at my parents who started this shit show.

"Yes we knew all of this Dominic they're our good friends and we wanted to help" said my mom while my father nodded.

"So you were more than okay with welcoming debt" my father smirked.

"Well don't you care about Caroline enough to help her out?" He was right about that she didn't deserve any of this. My parents were trying to help out that's why they made this decision that way we both win. We expand our business and Caroline's family doesn't get ruined.

"We can still do all this without us getting married" I said.

"No we already signed a contract stating you would marry our daughter and we want that to happen we don't want her to marry anyone else!" Caroline wasn't even saying anything at this point. I looked at her staring at the floor a tear coming out of her eye. She was never the confrontational type.

"Or else what?" I said waiting for their answer.

"Or we cancel the marriage and Caroline marries Julian Mayan" and everyone turned to Travis immediately.

Julian was 60 years old and the current CEO of Mayan. The man was pure evil some rumors even said he was connected to the cartels in Baja California. Julian didn't have an heir in fact the man could never settle down for long when he was married the two times.

"You wouldn't" said Caroline

"Oh we would they're the only ones that can offer us the same security as the Frosts either marry Dominic or Julian have your pick" this was it.

There wasn't any way I'd let Caroline marry that man. We didn't know what he was capable of behind closed doors. Both of his ex wives died in accidents that were solved but made no sense.

A knock sounded on the door I looked at the clock 5:45am. Caroline was closest to the door getting up to answer it. I heard the voice on the other side of the door and my chest tightened.

I didn't expect to see her right now especially after I left her last night I'm sure she'd be pissed. I don't even know if I was ready to see her knowing what was just said in the office.

In entered the confident Ms. Jones she immediately read the room and came up with something. We both know she wasn't here to talk about the mole but right now I was glad she brought it up. It gave me an excuse to kick everyone out of my office already.

Once everyone left the silence was inevitable "this can never happen again" I said and I closed my eyes while facing the ocean. This was far from over in my eyes but I couldn't ruin this for Caroline. I was doing this for Caroline.

I'll be fucking damned if I don't. So I had to end whatever was going on between us.

"I agree" she said faintly and placed the tie on my desk that I left at her apartment. "I'm sorry if I interrupted before I'll take my leave now" she said and I decided I didn't want her to leave just yet "congratulations on finding out who the mole is" I said not knowing what else to say.

"Thank you sir" she said she looked at my eyes as if searching for something then walked out. I couldn't get the image of her face out of my mind. It was now over.
