The sound of someone pacing fills the study, the light of the early morning sun coming through the large window casting a yellow glow in the room, warming it.
-"How are we only finding this out now, Mackenzie?" - There's a hint of anger in Jensen's voice.
-"I'm only now getting to the more recent papers father signed before he passed."
-"Did you asked mother? Did she have any explanation for it?" -Jensen stopped to look at his sister, Mackenzie shaking her head.
-"I asked and she didn't know anything about it. She was just as surprised as I was, but she did say that it made sense, considering who it was."
-"How so?"
-"According to our mother, they were close friends, from before father ever became King. It would make sense he would do something like this, especially considering the situation."
-"He should've told me. Maybe I could've done something about it."
-"Maybe that's exactly why father didn't say anything. He knew you would try and get out of it, one way or another." - Josh says, speaking up for the first time since this conversation began.
Jensen looks back at him, sitting down across from his brother and sister, and sighs. He is angry with their father for putting him in that situation, there was no doubt about it.
-"Is there anything we can do to get me out of this?"
-"I already looked into it, since I knew you would ask. There's nothing that can be done, father made it so that, no matter what you try, you will always have to follow through with it." - Mackenzie gives him a sympathetic look. -"Maybe it won't be that bad."
Jensen lowers his eyes to his hands, considering his options and knowing that there isn't much he can do, his father made sure of it. With a resigned sigh, he looks up at Mackenzie.
-"Send a summon."
Mackenzie nods and stands, leaving her brothers to write the summoning letter. Jensen watches her leave, knowing that she is about to change his life forever.
-"What're you planning on doing?" - Josh gives him a questioning look.
-"The only thing I can do. Follow through on father's last promise to a dying man."
