"You fucking did what?" Solon exclaimed loudly.

"I told you he would react this way, did I not?" Heli looked over at Jino who just stared at the two like a lost puppy.

"He's lost his damned mind!" Solon began pacing the room, pinching the bridge of his nose. He's not typically the type to use profanities. Which is why on the occasions that he does, it comes as a shock. "How many times do we have to repeat something for us to get the fucking hint that maybe it's in our best interest not to?"

"She's not Soo–" Jino started with an aggressive tone, but quickly cut himself off when all six sets of eyes gave him a look not to say that name. Sinking back into his seat in defeat he continued, "Cyra is different. I can feel it."

"That's what we all thought about her until she tried to seduce more than one of us," Solon said through greeted teeth.

"And then trapped me in a burning building to die... which I did." Shion gave everyone a side-eye as if they had forgotten what happened to him.

"Shion, you weren't the only one she tried to kill." Jaan nudged Shion.

"No, the difference between me and all of you is that I did die!" Shion argued as if that would make anything better.

"Besides, to play devil's advocate here, that wasn't the real her. The real her was a princess and we were her royal guards. The present day is the reincarnation of our past selves. The real woman is out there, trying to rebuild her life. Just like us. Just like how Jino described Cyra. Maybe this is the difference?" Jaan had a point. There were similarities, yet not at the same time.

It came as no surprise that the other six began bickering. They always did this in situations that could be detrimental to their well-being. The reincarnation part of Jaan's point transported Jino back to holding hands with Cyra. How they were but weren't themselves. She was someone to him and he was someone to her. He knew he recognized his clothing. This begged the question of, why wasn't this presented to them when they were having flashbacks with her. Shouldn't it have been?

Who was Cyra in their story? And why was she not there from the very beginning?

He wondered who she was in their past. Was she a demi-god then? Or was a a full-blood goddess? He had never seen anyone with golden eyes like that before. The only thing he had seen was the platinum hair. He thought only those losing their powers had that. Strange.

Another question that was more for him was: will their past feelings dictate how they feel about each other this time around? So far, other than having a mild crush on her, he can see things becoming platonic. He couldn't tell if he had been feeling romantic or platonic love in that flashback. Just that there was love there.
Earth to Jino. Solon forced Jino back to the moment. Once again, all six sets of eyes were on him.

"What do you plan on doing about this?" Jakah finally stepped in.

"What do you mean? Isn't it obvious?" Jino shrugged. It had to be obvious.

"No, Captain Obvious, it's not," Noa added with a snarky tone. "Tell us what you have in mind. Only Heli can stand being inside someone's brain for an entire day."

"I plan to get to know her. How are we supposed to understand why this is happening again if we don't do anything about it?" Jino looked at each of them. He had hoped that one of them would agree with him. They all had deadpan expressions on their faces.
"How about you don't do that." Solon sounded pissed that Jino would even consider it, much less make it his actual plan.

"Seriously, it could be far worse than what we've already dealt with. I don't know about you, but I would prefer not to relive the past while trying to have a better future." Jakah shrugged.

No one wants to relive that. It's why they agreed to move on. Everyone understood where Jino was coming from. They just feared the worst. Shion may have come back from the dead, but that doesn't mean whatever is out there this time, will allow its next victim to revive themselves. Shion got lucky.

"Let me give it a shot. The moment something is off, I'll end things. Move on. Forget about it." Jino reasoned with them. Something in him was telling him he had to do this.

They looked around the room. One by one, a silent agreement was forming and ending with all eyes on Jino.

"Fine. Pursue this. The second this goes south, no bitching. End it and move on." Solon was the first to say something. The rest nodded along to his words.

Jino smiled and thanked them. Jaan grabbed Jakah and Noa to help him start dinner while the rest did chores or homework. Heli patted Jino on the back. He understood the most out of the brothers just why Jino wants to do this. How could he not? It happened to him.

I hope you're right about this, Ji. Heli gave him a sad smile. The last thing he wants is for his brother to go through the same pain that he did. Being a bystander to it was painful enough. Becoming a bystander to the victim is horrendous. Heli walked away with a sigh.
As soon as he was alone, Jino pulled out his phone. In the process of saying goodbye to each other, he managed to get Cyra's number.

It was the only way he knew would keep communication going between them until they figured out how far their telepathy could reach. With his brothers, it could reach over miles. He sent her a text, asking if they could meet up with each other tomorrow. Someplace secluded so if they decided to create fire again, no one would report them.

Cyra texted back almost immediately. She was over the moon about it. If he could see her, he'd see her biting her lip to keep from squealing. She kicked her legs in the air with excitement. She didn't make a noise because she didn't want to scare Fiona, who was currently in the shower.

One would think she was asked on a date with the way she was responding. It wasn't, but she liked him. Something about him feels right. Cyra lay there on her bed, eyes closed and with a smile on her face. This. This is why she moved to somewhere new. To be able to experience life for what it could be. Creating a new family, no matter how that may look.

"Are you okay?" Fiona's voice came from Cyra's doorway.

"Never better." She responded in a dreamy tone.

"Oh, my gods... you got asked out on a date!" Fiona immediately jumped on Cyra's bed to get every detail.

"It's not a date." Cyra sat up. "But he did ask me if I was free tomorrow. He wants to talk about what's going on with us and to get to know me better. Only fair, all things considered."

"He wants to get to know you better... isn't that what a first date is?" Fiona did her best not to start smiling. Biting her lip seemed to have failed her. The woman she's always seen as a sister is going on a first date. Knowing Cyra's dating history, she couldn't be happier for her.

"If it is or not, I still want you to help me pick out my outfit. I can dress myself for events but meeting with a person I find attractive... everything in that closet isn't good enough." Cyra sighed as she looked at her closet like she still had rags from high school.

"Don't stress. I've got you. I'm going to put my stuff back in my room and I'll be back to help you." Fiona quickly got up and walked out the door, excited that Cyra trusted her with even a simple meetup. "We're going to make you show off that goddess that you are!"

"Demi-goddess!" Cyra corrected with a laugh.

"I call bullshit! Still a goddess!" Cyra couldn't help but laugh at her best friend's response.

She bit her lip as she began to stare into space. This is what that feels like? Platonic or romantic. Finally, she can go and be a person.
