Chris hadn't meant for it to happen.

It simply just did.

He didn't mean to hurt him, he really didn't.

Shall we uncover how Matt and Chris's relationship would never be the same?

If yes, keep reading.

If not, get out while you can.

As Matt struggled to open his eyes against the throbbing ache in his head, he gradually familiarized himself with his surroundings. It was a gloomy Wednesday morning, with the pitter-patter of raindrops hitting his window. The wind whistled and Matt shivered.  He let out a low groan as he pushed himself upright in bed, feeling a sense of unease settle over him in the dim light filtering through the window. Matt sucked in a deep breath, exhaling as he placed his feet on the floor. He made his way to the bathroom, not bothering to check his phone before hopping into the shower. The house was unusually quiet, but Matt shrugged it off.

Chris and Nick were not in the rooms when Matt went to check. "Well, that's odd," Matt said to himself.

Matthew stood under the gentle stream of warm water, allowing it to cascade over his body, hoping it would rid the chill he had been feeling since he woke up. As the water cascaded down his legs, he lathered his hair and body, savouring the comforting aroma of his shampoo. Despite the soothing sensation of the warm water, the stubborn chill in his bones persisted.

As Matt dried himself off, his mind raced at the thought of where his brothers could be. Could they be at the store? Could they be going for a walk? Did something bad happen?
Matt's breathing began to pick up.  He knew he was having an anxiety attack, and with no one home to help him, it made things 10 times worse. Matthew sunk onto the floor in harsh sobs, that shook his small figure. With his body still trembling, Matt slowly walked to his room to grab his phone. He dialled Nick's number as quickly as he could, and when the phone started ringing, Matt prayed that Nick would answer. when he heard Nick's automated voicemail go off Matt was beside himself. He began to sob, even louder, wishing that anyone would hear him. He decided to leave Nick a troubling voicemail. "Nick, please pick up I can't- I can't- breathe, and I don't know where you and Chris are, but I need you to come home, please." his voice cracked on the last word.

Nick and I sat beside each other at our gate. Before we booked the plane tickets, Nick told me that it was a bad idea to leave Matt behind. But I had already booked the tickets and they were nonrefundable.  And to be honest, I didn't care that we were leaving Matt behind. I was so fed up with him, and I wanted him to learn that he could be by himself for once in his life. I know he struggles with his anxiety, but I'm so tired of him always being the reason we can't do fun stuff. And yeah, I love my brother. But sometimes I need time away, and I think Nick agrees with me because if he didn't, he wouldn't be sitting here. Honestly, I thought everything was going well until Nick's phone started to ring. Nick sent his phone to voicemail, not bothering to check who was calling at this time in the morning, but then his voicemail beeped.

A choked cry came over the line.

Matt.

My heart raced with regret, and I immediately knew that we had to go home. "Nick let's go," I said. and we grabbed our stuff and Ubered home as fast as we could.
