Ash's Pikachu & Iris's Excadrill

First conversation:

Pikachu: Hello, Excadrill. How's it going?

Excadrill: Very well, Pikachu.

Pikachu: I see that you've cheered up again after a long time, you were mental blocked and without paying attention to Iris before.

Excadrill: ...

Pikachu: Something's wrong?

Excadrill: Oh, nothing. I was just thinking about the past.

Pikachu: What do you remember?

Excadrill: Well, before being with Iris, I was a wild Drillbur, one more Pokémon of the forest, lonely, without friends.

Pikachu: That liked to steal other's food.

Excadrill: How do you know that?

Pikachu: After the battle against Giorgia's Beartic, Iris told us everything. About how you were, the battles that you did, how you could beat Iris several times; including the moment that you blocked after losing against Drayden's Haxorus.

Excadrill: So she told you everything about me. So I have no need to tell you how I was before.

Pikachu: It seems, but if you have something to tell me, you can say it.

Excadrill: Let's see... Mmm...

Pikachu: How long were you blocked, Excadrill?

Excadrill: Mmm... I have no idea, honestly.

Pikachu: According to what Iris said, she met you when she was a little girl, even before starting her path to become a dragon master.

Excadrill: If I think about it, I must have a very long time, a certain number of years so to speak. Hmm...

Pikachu: What's wrong, Excadrill?

Excadrill: Nothing of importance, let's go with the others.

Pikachu: Alright.

Second conversation:

Excadrill (with his eyes closed): ...

Pikachu: Hello, Excadrill.

Excadrill (opens his eyes): Oh, Pikachu! I didn't see you coming closer to me.

Pikachu: Sorry, I think I interrupted you in something, was you meditating?

Excadrill: Yes, I was thinking about something that came up in mind minutes ago.

Pikachu: About what?

Excadrill: This is the question: have you ever thought about the Pokémon that Ash catches?

Pikachu: What do you mean?

Excadrill: About how Pokémon feel after being captured.

Pikachu: Where did that question come from, Excadrill?

Excadrill: I have noticed that trainers catch Pokémon to train them and make them strong in battle, isn't right?

Pikachu: Yeah, it's what a Pokémon trainer usually do.

Excadrill: Right, but have you thought how the Pokémon feels when is about to be caught?

Pikachu: The normal things is that Pokémon battle with the trainer's Pokémon. Is there something wrong with that?

Excadrill: Yes, why does the wild Pokémon attack or escape from the trainer? Hadn't you thought about it?

Pikachu: The reason? No, I have no idea.

Excadrill: I have realized that the wild Pokémon tried to defend itself from the trainer.

Pikachu: Defend itself?

Excadrill: Yes, it tried to defend of protect it territory, its habitat, its home. The wild Pokémon has two options after encountering a trainer: fight or flight. Flight will prevent that the Pokémon is in danger, while Fighting is taking risk and it will try to beat the trainer so the person leaves it alone.

Pikachu: What have to do with this, Excadrill?

Excadrill: I have thought that, maybe, there were wild Pokémon that didn't want to belong to the trainer's team since the first encounter, what they did was avoid or get off the problem so that it wasn't captured.

Pikachu: Do you think so?

Excadrill: Yes, it made me think that wild Pokémon had a quiet life before. They had a home, friends, family. Don't you think that trainers are the bad guys for them?

Pikachu: Hmm...

Excadrill: Think about it for a moment and come back with me with your opinions.

Pikachu: Alright, Excadrill.

Third conversation:

Pikachu: Excadrill.

Excadrill: Pikachu, how are you?

Pikachu: I'm fine, I've come for the conversation we had before.

Excadrill: Have you reached a conclusion about what we talked?

Pikachu: Yeah, I realized that there're Pokémon that are unfairly caught by the trainers, and thus, lose their previous life as wild Pokémon. But, it's not always like that.

Excadrill: Not always?

Pikachu: Yeah, there're cases where the Pokémon wants to go with the trainer for different reasons. The occasions that Ash caught a Pokémon was because he helped it with its problems, he has saved its life, or simply because it liked him.

Excadrill: ... You're right. One of those things had happened to me, that time where I almost fall from a cliff, but Iris saved me from dying. It was that because I started to travel with her. I remember now.

Pikachu: See, that's an example.

Excadrill: Keep in mind that Pokémon have emotions and their own purpose. I blocked a long time ago because Iris pressure me too much against an opponent that I have no chances to defeat it. She didn't feel what I felt.

Pikachu: That's true, but there're trainers that really cares the condition of their Pokémon, like Ash, Cilan and Iris.

Excadrill: That's right, now I'm better because Iris thought on me, and I'll do my best to protect her and make her victorious in combats.

Pikachu: You really have strange thoughts, Excadrill.

Excadrill: I thought there are Pokemon that didn't join to the team for fight and become stronger. As you said, it could that the Pokémon has liked the trainer and just wants to enjoy its journey with that person.

Pikachu: How can you know that?

Excadrill: There are some of us that think like that, if you haven't noticed.

Pikachu: Hmm...

Excadrill: Well, whatever. Thanks for talking with me.

Pikachu: You're welcome, Excadrill. You really have very different ideas from the other Pokemon of the group.

Excadrill: It's not for nothing that there is a warning at the beginning that, in the journey, you are going to meet with beings with different points of view, which will be in conflict with you.

Pikachu: What are you talking about?

Excadrill: Nothing, let's return with the others. It's getting late.

Pikachu: Yeah, let's return.
