The ship headed toward the shore, propelled by Nya's powers. Day had fully broken now. The Ninjas were reuniting on the deck. Before long, they reached a place on the shore, a small inlet, where Nya brought the ship up next to a large rock. Carefully, they set down the anchor and put out a ramp. The shaken villagers slowly made their way back onto solid ground. Their village had been completely destroyed by the Preeminent. They would be struggling to rebuild their lives after this.
Once the people had all left, Master Wu and the Ninjas followed, making their way across the plank. Kai turned to Lloyd, who was looking out at the ocean, looking distressed.
"Lloyd? You okay?" Kai asked, touching his newly proclaimed little brother's shoulder.
Lloyd glanced back at him. "Yeah... I'm fine. I just... I just wasn't really ready to let him go." He paused, looking down at his feet, and took a deep breath. "Would you mind if I... I had a moment by myself for a while?"
Kai nodded. "Of course. We're all here for you, remember that." He gave his shoulder a gentle squeeze and then went to rejoin the rest of the Ninjas while Lloyd moved to sit on a rock at the water's edge and gazed mournfully at the horizon. Kai came up next to Nya. "Great job, Sis." He soon hugged her proudly. "You saved Ninjago."
Nya turned to him and smiled. "Yeah... It was really close though. We almost didn't make it. I hate to say it, but without Morro, I don't know if I would have been able to stop him in time."
Master Wu gave a quick glance around for his newest pupil, a frown creasing his face and his brows furrowing just a little bit. Where was the new Master of Wind? He glanced towards the small group of Ninjas. He continued searching for the newest member of the team. The rest of the Ninjas did the same, but the new Master of Wind was nowhere to be seen.
By the next few hours after their rest, the small Ninja Team had set up a campsite amongst the frightened and soaked villagers. The Ninjas explained what happened regarding their friend and a vengeful ghost. The villagers understood it was a piece of the aftermath from Morro's madness.
The sun was low, and the sky was on fire with a blazing sunset and into a calming twilight.
Kai warmed up the fireplace with his Fire Power while Nya cooked up some warm noodle soup with Jay's help. Zane and Pix both brought in some sleeping bags for the team. Cole was keeping a keen lookout for any unusual sights. Misako was gently comforting Master Wu for the loss of his first pupil (again) and his older brother from a fair distance away from the Ninjas.
A roar suddenly split the sky overhead, causing the villagers to crouch down nervously and the Ninjas became tense at the sound of a dragon. But when they both looked up at the night sky, a pair of Elemental Dragons were outlined by the sunlight. One is silvery-blue and the other is purple. The purple Elemental Dragon landed in front of them while the silvery-blue Elemental Dragon landed a few feet away from them.
Cole gotten up with the others, wary and confused at the sight before them. Those two Elemental Dragons. Where did they come from. Unless, it's some people he hasn't seen in a while. People who are true heroes that risked their lives to protect their families and friends... It can't be. Can't it? He gasped when he spotted one of the two riders as they dismounted their Elemental Dragons, which caused their spiritual mounts to disappear without a trace. The rest of his family were stunned at the sight before them.
"Does Lloyd knows that you're both here?" Kai suddenly spoke up to the arriving duo.Lloyd pressed his hands against his face, rubbing his eyes. He'd said goodbye to his father once already, he'd cried over his loss before. And yet now it felt more permanent. As much as he'd hated to admit it, he'd still held on to the hope that Garmadon could be saved. Morro's taunts in the old pawnshop had struck home... Garmadon was in the Cursed Realm, yes, but the Cursed Realm was being destroyed — without the realm, there would have been nothing binding Garmadon there.
He could have had his family back. His mother, his father, and himself. They'd had such a short time together. But Lloyd wasn't alone — he still had his brothers and his sisters. He still had his uncle. He still had his mother. Maybe it was time to truly bid his father farewell, and to accept his presence in spirit, like his father had said in the Cursed Realm.
There was a crunch of dried grass behind him, Lloyd tensed for a moment before feeling a gentle touch being placed on his shoulder. "Lloyd?"
The voice was so familiar. It sent waves of joy and shock rushing through Lloyd's body and instantly he sat up, eyes widening in amazement. He turned around. "Dad!"
It was Garmadon alright. He was soaking wet, ragged, and looked utterly exhausted, but it was still his father. "But... The Preeminent... Y-You were trapped... You..." He was cut off as his father quickly pulled him into a tight hug.
"I told you I would always be with you, Lloyd," he told his son gently.
Lloyd wrapped his arms around him, the tears he had been trying to hold back were now pushing through and running down his cheeks. "I can't believe you're here... I can't believe you survived... Everything is going to be alright now..."
Garmadon smiled tiredly, hugging his son closer to him. "Yes... it is." He wrapped his arms around him and squeezed his dad tightly. Lloyd felt his dad's strong arms wrap around him. He shut his eyes and let his whole body relax into the hug. A silent sob escaped from him. Warm tears were sliding from Garmadon's face too.
"Brother?" Wu's shocked voice came as the others came upon the reunion.
Lloyd looked up, grinning. "He came back." He still barely believed it himself. They all gathered around, and Master Wu and the other Ninjas joined the family reunion. On top of a shadowy hill, a dark shadow paused and watched this, hidden to the Ninja Team. She smiled when she saw Lloyd and Garmadon embracing. Lloyd was truly happy... and with Morro's history with him, she knew that her presence might lessen that happiness. Lloyd's entire being seemed to glow, and Audra wasn't going to do anything to stop it. Lloyd deserved this after everything the boy had been through in Morro's short life.
And then, the Ninjas, Master Wu, and Misako had returned. All nine of them stood around one another, celebrating their victory, and the return of Lloyd's father. And somehow, Audra just knew. She knew that they belonged together. And she knew that she didn't belong with them. Not with someone who is related to a monster. She has been struggling to hide herself from her true identity and was scared of her own shadow. She'd never be accepted, and they looked... They looked so perfect just the way that they were now.
But just as Audra was about to leave, Lloyd's gentle, pleading voice could be heard on the wind towards her. "Audra, don't go." She looked over her shoulder to see the other Ninjas and the two Ninja Masters were watching her with warm smiles.
"Stay, please." Garmadon gave her a gentle smile. "You're one of us now."
Audra smiled softly at them before she joined the embrace with the other Ninjas and the two Ninja Masters. She never felt her heart become so full.
