Girl Meets "The Night"

Nobody's Pov

Maya, Lucas, and Farkle were all at Topanga's. It was 9:00 pm and Topanga's was already closed. They were there for fun and because Topanga told them they could. They were sitting there talking when all of a sudden Maya went silent. She started breathing super heavily and started shaking her leg. She started pacing around and put herself in a corner, and slid down the wall. The boys had absolutely no idea what was going on with her.

L: Maya, are you okay? What's going on?

She just looked at him and started crying, then she pulled her knees up to her chest and put her head down. That's when Farkle realized what was going on.

F: She's having an anxiety attack.

L: Well, how do we stop it?

F: We try and calm her down.

They had Maya lay down, but she didn't want her head on the floor, so she used Lucas's leg as a pillow. They didn't know how to calm her down, so Lucas just put his hand on her shoulder. After a while, it finally stopped, but before it did, Maya started saying some things that she shouldn't have been saying. She started saying she wasn't good enough and no one would care if she just died and a ton of other messed up things about herself. It didn't sound like she meant them, though. It sounded like things people had said to her, and she was repeating them to herself.

L: Maya, what's that on your arm?

M: What's what?

L: All those cuts?

Maya was silent. She had tried so hard not to let them see her arms, but it was too late.

F: You cut yourself?

M: I don't try to. It just happens.

Lucas was just silent. He felt so bad for Maya and just hugged her. She hugged him back.

They made Maya promise to try and never do that again. They knew it would be hard and promised they wouldn't get mad, but they still wanted her to try and stop.

After that night, Maya and Lucas started to feel different towards each other, but they both just tried to ignore it.
