Y/N's POV
PRESENT DAY
"I think we should go back to Savannah." Tyler blurted out in the middle of lunch.
"Alright.. we'll have another group vote later tonight." Ashlyn said as she impatiently tapped her foot, which I could feel.
"Why not after school?" Tyler asked.
"I have ballet class."
"So what? Skip it."
"Uh, Ty. We have things too. You have baseball practice, I have a mechanics meeting." Taylor said, entering the conversation.
"I, uh, have to help with the flower shop." Logan said, fiddling with his fingers. Aiden didn't say anything. He just looked at me with that smug grin, while Ben was asleep.
"I kinda have a day with my dad." I admitted, looking out the window to avoid glares. I actually had therapy, but I didn't want to tell them that.
"See? Everyone's busy. Even with what's happening, we can't just neglect school and our future. You need baseball. Let's just wait until tonight-" Taylor was speaking, before she got cut off.
"We aren't going to have a future if we're dead."
"Can we please not?" I said, a small headache creeping into my head at the sound of that word, which Tyler silently apologized and stopped talking.
"It's not just our future. If we drop everything to focus on fantasy-like events we can't prove, then we're going to end up in a psyche ward." Ashlyn said, which I shot her a glare. I didn't want to go through that again.
"She's got a point, y'know. We're what people call 'crazy.'" Aiden said, rolling his finger around his ear as he looked at me. Why was he looking at me? Did he somehow know already but just kept it a secret? There's no way. I didn't leave any hints in the last two weeks, right?
Tyler just scoffed before getting up with his tray and leaving. But then spinning around again, coming back, glaring at us, grabbing his sister, and leaving with her.
---------------
Fuck. Before I knew it, it was 12 and we had already shifted. Now we're back where we left off, which means.. the phantom that was there on the bus is still there! "Duck!" Ashlyn whispered loudly, which we all did. Tyler suggested we shoot it, but the gun was only for emergencies. Me and Ashlyn could hear that thing snarling, to which Ashlyn said to "hide under the seats."
Logan was covering his mouth with Ben next to him, the twins were together, Ashlyn was alone, and Aiden was next to me, with that smirk on his face. We could all hear its footsteps as it stepped on board, which I grabbed something to squeeze out of anxiety. It took me a moment to figure out it was Aiden's hand, but it would be awkward to just let go, so I pretended I didn't notice. I don't know what Ashlyn did, but a loud scrape could be heard.
When I got to my senses, the phantom had Ashlyn by her braid, which she yelled out "get the weapons!" Ben and the twins nodded, and ran to the box. Ashlyn did something or the other, and got unstuck. Aiden then came up with a stupid idea, and grabbed the phantom by the arms, swinging it around and over him to where the creature got stuck in an open window.
"Close the window!" He said, which Logan and Ashlyn ran to shut it. However, it got out of Aiden's grasp, and scratched Logan by the stomach. He let out a pained gasp, followed by a muffled scream.
The other three came with a weapon. "Twins, grab the legs! Ben, you stab it!" And that's what happened. The twins grabbed the legs of the phantom with their life, and Ben stabbed the center, which caused the phantom to tremble for a bit then go limp.
