Standing on the wintery ground, white powder gently falling onto my coat, I gently brush the mane of Karl, running my fingers against his skin soothingly. I giggle as he throws his head back, attempting to get the snow off himself. Glancing up I spot Technoblade standing on the balcony, leaning against the railing, watching the horizon closely. My smile fades, knowing what's coming. I gently guide his horse back into his stable, locking it securely next to my own mare. Turning, I make my way to the front door, entering the three story, narrow cabin, heading to the kitchen, and shedding my coat. Heavy footsteps sound from upstairs through the oak flooring, reaching the ladder, and descending it. I busy myself with continuing to prepare dinner, stirring the soup now steadily bubbling in its pot. He lands on the stone floor, staying in place.

"Y/N-"

"Dinner's just about ready, and I've already fed the horses, so you don't need to worry about that." He takes a few steps closer.

"Y/N-"

"Also, I washed those trousers you got all dirty, along with your nice shirt. You should really be more careful-"

"Y/N." He grabs my shoulders, tuning me to face him. "Please, stop..." I shake my head, tears beginning to form in my eyes.

"Whatever you're going to say, if it's what I think you're about to say, please don't..."

"You're not safe here Y/N. You're not safe with me."

"I don't care. I'm not leaving you." He gently cups the sides of my face, holding my gaze.

"Please don't make this any more difficult than it is my love."

"You can not make me leave you Techno." I state firmly, tears falling from my eyes, only to be wiped away by the pads of his thumbs.

"It's for your own safety Y/N. They'll be here any day, and I need you to be as far away as possible."

"Please..." I whimper. He pulls me into a tight embrace, myself burying my face into his chest as he wraps his arms tightly around me, nuzzling his face into the top of my head.

"Shhhh, everything will be alright. I Promise."

Technoblades POV

Standing outside, I help her strap the last of her bags to H/N, adjusting the saddle and its stirrups as well as a precaution. She stands near the house, facing away from me, clutching the edges of her cloak close to her body.

"Y/N." Her head turns, my gaze meeting hers. "You should get going soon, before it gets dark." She nods, turning back to the house, bringing a hand to her face, most likely to wipe her tears away. Slowly, she backs away, spinning to face me, her eyes puffy and face red, and biting her lower lip to keep it from quivering. I gently touch her clothed shoulder, bringing her figure close to me, into my side. She wraps her arms tightly around my waist, burying her face into the side of my chest. I squeeze her tightly, rubbing circles onto her back.

"Everything will be alright, I promise." She nods, pulling away slightly. I cup her cheek, caressing it, watching her lean into my hand, closing her eyes and nuzzling it gently. I smile, as she opens her E/C eyes, gazing into mine, small tears forming. I slowly bring my face down to hers, both of us closing our eyes as our lips meet in a gentle, but passionate and meaningful kiss. We stay for a few minutes, eventually pulling away. I wipe any more stray tears, then helping her up onto H/N, I grab the reins, handing them to her, making any necessary adjustments to the gear as well.

"I'll send you a crow when it's safe."

"Okay..." Her voice is shaky. I place my hand on her leg, rubbing it, then backing away, I nod to her. She nods back, steering the reins to the right, heading towards the mountains. I sigh deeply, watching her figure quickly retreat into the distance, her bright F/C cape and its fur lining slowly being littered with snow. My heart feels as though it's sinking, growing heavier and heavier the farther away she becomes. "I was the one who had it all, I was the master of my fate." I sigh, shaking my head. "I never needed anybody in my life, but I learned the truth too late." Turning, I face the house. "I'll never shake away the pain." I shut my eyes, imagining her standing in front of me, carrying her small wooden basket, filled with flowers. "I close my eyes but she's still there." Opening them I trudge back towards the tall cabin, my boots sinking with every step, my cape brushing against the white ground. "I let her steal into my melancholy heart, and it's more than I can bear!" Reaching the door, I turn again, finding her stopped, looking back at me, her features unreadable, and unclear at such a distance.

"Now I know she'll never leave me, even as she runs away!" I press my hand on the door, pushing it slightly ajar. "She will still torment me, calm me, hurt me, move me, come what may." I step into the doorway, pausing. "Wasting in my lonely cabin, waiting by an open door." I walk in, shuting it solidly, pacing towards the open window, staring out. "I'll fool myself, she'll walk right in, and be with me for evermore." Walking swiftly towards the oak ladder, I grasp the sides, steadily making my way up. "I rage against the trials of love, I curse the fading of the light!" I land on the top floor, its wall composed of fences, and only being a small landing, the outside word crystal clear. "Though she's already flown so far beyond my reach, she's never out of sight!" I grip the dark oak railing tightly.

"Now I know she'll never leave me. Even as she fades from view!" I feel tears gathering in the corners of my eyes, not daring to let them fall just yet. "She will still inspire me, and be a part of everything I do. Wasting in my lonely tower, waiting by an open door." I look down, letting a few fall down my pink cheeks, slightly reddened by the cold. "I'll fool myself, she'll walk right in...And as the long, long nights begin." I redirect my gaze upwards. "I'll think of all that might have been." I push myself off the railing, coming to stand in the middle of the platform. "Waiting here, for evermore!"
