No no... But where the fuck has everyone gone?

You checked and then rechecked each room of the upper floor of the gallery – even going back into the 'rest area' twice. Everyone. Every single person on this floor had abruptly disappeared. Any and all sense of calmness had quickly vanished with it.

There was no noise at all, save from the stressed sounds of your shoes as they beat against the white floor like it was a drum. Your heavy breathing and the rusting of your clothes, too, were creating noise, but you couldn't focus on that.

Your lungs tightened, and you felt your heart drop to your stomach. A lump formed in your throat that you couldn't swallow, but it wasn't quite enough to make you sick, either. Why had they all— How had they all managed to disappear so quickly?! You weren't in the rest area for too long, you didn't think, maybe ten minutes at the absolute most. An outbreak of anxious questions exploded in your now hyperactive brain like deadly, mirthless fireworks – one that were intent on causing as much panic as possible.

Then suddenly, you halted just before the stairs leading to the ground floor.

Your heart sank even further, like a boulder landing on top of a bunch of clueless tourists. The weight of the world seemed to crumble on you in that moment.

A horrible, ugly thought stabbed at your brain and then your heart. Two knives at once, stabbing into you and then twisting around. You felt the pain, right in your heart. In the midst of the panic, a realisation. A sudden and horrible realisation.

What if this is a joke that was choreographed by my friends?

Immediately, you rebutted yourself for the thought, don't be stupid, there's no way they'd orchestrate something this cruel twice in a row... you told yourself, only somewhat believing the words.

The mind could play horrible tricks on you. It could torment you and tease you in the worst ways; torturing you with images and memories you could only hope to forget. Offering tantalising ideas that you can only dream to achieve.
