As the shining sun rose in the morning sky, indicating the arrival of a new day, a smile adorned Mahir's face, depicting the joy of a new beginning. Even after breaking out of his slumber, he kept lying down on his bed, with eyes open and lips curved in a shy yet beautiful smile, with a serene feeling of peace washing over him. He kept looking out of the window, through which the sun rays were trespassing inside his room, the events of the past few days replaying in his mind.

He signed, recalling their intimate hug, his eyes momentarily closing, remembering the warmth of her crossing through his features, consuming him whole. The way she held him to herself, close and secure. This was the first time he felt a sense of security with someone. He realized that he felt safe in her arms; he felt protected.

He remembered hugging her back, pulling them even closer than they already were, and warmth spread on his face. He hid his face in the pillow, his smile widening and cheeks flushed, adorning with red.

"Mahi beta, uthja baba."

(Mahi, get up child)

Ajji's voice brought him back from his fairyland, and he stretched his arms, still smiling, and got up from the bed. While rubbing his eyes, he walked outside towards the kitchen to find Ajji preparing breakfast. He placed his chin over Ajji's shoulder and peeked down to find Ajji chopping vegetables.

"Good morning, Ajji." He spoke.

"Good morning, baccha. Today you woke up early, han?"

"Early? What time is it?"

"It's 7."

Mahir's lips formed an 'O' while listening to her. Ajji kept the knife aside and placed her hand on his face, checking his temperature.

"Are you okay today, baccha? How's the cold?"

"It's fine, Ajji. I'm all well and strong, see."

Mahir pulled back a little and showed Ajji his bicep with a cheesy grin. Ajji chuckled and patted his cheeks, then turned back to continue her chopping.

"Yes yes, my Mahi is super strong. Chlo Mahi, go and get ready, then I'll serve breakfast. And I'll make you Adrak wali chai, ek sip piyega na, saari bachi kuchi sardi bhag jayegi."

(I'll make you ginger tea, one sip and all your cold will vanish away)

Listening to her, an idea popped into his mind.

'Cold. She was also drenched that day. What if she is suffering from a cold as well? Maybe I should get her the chai. She'll feel good, and I'll have an excuse to see her or maybe talk about us."

The idea made him smile, and he turned towards Ajji.

"Ajji, today I'll make the tea."

"Arey no, baba. You go and get ready, I'll make it for you, baccha. Don't stress."
