Tiana

"Hello." I answered my mother's phone call.

"Tiana." My mother sobbed, causing me to instantly become alert.

"What's wrong?" I questioned.

"I'm coming home." She cried.

"What?"

"I'm coming home." She repeated, followed by a full-blown sob. She cried for a full minute before she was actually able to give me details. She would be coming home in two weeks; the judge had granted her early release, and she would be on parole for a year.

Once I finished talking to her, I called Domonic. I needed someone to talk to process my feelings. I was having mixed emotions about her coming home. I was happy but also nervous. We'd only spoken through a glass and on the phone, we'd never actually hung out together without anything dividing us.

"Hello." Domonic answered.

"Hey, are you busy?" I questioned.

"Nah, wassup?" I could hear his tattoo needle in the background.

"I just need someone to talk to right now. Can you call me back when you're not busy?"

"I'll be done with this tattoo in the next hour. You want me to swing by your place?" He questioned. I bit my lip contemplating.

"Sure, that's fine."

Within the next hour and a half Domonic was knocking on my door. I opened the door, taking in his appearance. He had a fresh line up, a crisp white tee, adidas joggers, and some air force ones. He looked damn good.

"Hey." I spoke.

"Wassup." I stepped to the side letting him in. He took a seat on my couch.

"You want something to drink?" I questioned.

"Nah, I'm cool."

"Okay." I took a seat next to him on the couch.

"What you needed to talk about?"

"My mom called today and said she was getting released from prison in two weeks."

"That's a good thing right?" He questioned.

"Yeah, but I'm nervous. What if things are different when she gets out?"

"Different how?"

"We've never really been around each other for long periods of time. What if we really don't get along?"

"I think y'all will be fine. She's been in your life since you were eighteen and everything has been good, why wouldn't it be now?" I sighed.

"I don't know. I think I'm just freaking out."

"Obviously." He laughed. "Besides the nervousness you excited about her coming home?" He questioned.

"Yeah." I admitted.

"That's good, I'm happy for you."

"Thank you." I smiled. "Speaking of mothers, have you decided if you're going to reach out to yours?"

"I'm still not sure yet." I nodded. It'd only been a little over a week since his sister and brought the idea up.

"Just know that I support whatever you decide."

"Thank you." I placed my head on his shoulder. "I've gotta head back to the shop in couple of minutes. You want to go back with me?" He questioned.

"Yeah, let me go put on some clothes." I currently had on an oversized t shirt and lounge shorts.
