Pov Nobody

Riley and Val had been friends since childhood, inseparable through thick and thin. They shared a small apartment in the heart of the city, navigating their early twenties with a mix of excitement and uncertainty.

One rainy evening, Riley burst through the door, soaked to the bone. "Fuck this weather," she grumbled, tossing her dripping coat onto a chair.

Val looked up from their laptop, a worried frown on their face. "Rough day?"

Riley collapsed onto the couch with a sigh. "Yeah, work's a shitshow. My boss is riding my ass about deadlines again."

Val rolled their eyes. "Fuckers never know when to give it a rest."

Riley chuckled weakly. "Exactly."

They ordered takeout from their favorite Thai place and settled in, seeking refuge in the comfort of each other's company. Over spicy noodles and cold beer, they reminisced about simpler times and pondered their uncertain futures.

As the night wore on, conversation turned to deeper waters. Val hesitated, then broached a sensitive topic. "Riley, I've been meaning to ask... Are you okay? You've seemed off lately."

Riley stared into her beer, wrestling with her emotions. "Honestly, I've been struggling. It's like I'm stuck in this fucking rut and I can't claw my way out."

Val nodded sympathetically. "I get it. Life's a bitch sometimes."

Riley sighed heavily. "I just feel so fucking lost. Like I'm drowning in shit and no one's throwing me a fucking lifeline."

Val reached out and squeezed Riley's hand. "You're not alone in this, okay? We'll figure shit out together."

Riley managed a weak smile, grateful for Val's unwavering support. "Thanks, Val. I don't know what I'd do without you."

The evening wound down with shared laughter and a sense of camaraderie. They retreated to their respective rooms, feeling a bit lighter despite the weight of their worries.

As Riley lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, she couldn't shake the feeling of uncertainty. Life was messy, complicated, and sometimes downright shitty. But with Val by her side, navigating the chaos felt a little less daunting.

In the darkness of her room, Riley whispered into the silence, "I fucking love you, Val."

And somewhere down the hall, Val smiled softly, knowing she felt the same.
