In the midst of swirling media attention and mounting allegations against Sean "Diddy" Combs, Riley found herself in an unthinkable situation. She'd been mentored by Diddy when she was younger, and while she had moved on from his orbit in recent years, the weight of the rumors and accusations hit her hard. The news was everywhere, each headline more disturbing than the last. Every mention of those infamous parties, the "Freak Off" events, brought back memories Riley had long tried to bury—things she wasn't sure how to feel about anymore.
In need of support, Riley went to her girlfriend Val's place. Val had always been her safe space—the one who knew how to listen without judgment, whose humor and strength kept her grounded. When Riley arrived, Val noticed the tension immediately. Without a word, she led Riley to the couch, offering a warm smile as she wrapped a blanket around them both.
After a moment of silence, Riley spoke up. "This whole thing... about Diddy... it's messed up shit," she started, struggling to find the right words. "People are saying I was one of those... those girls, who went to his parties. And it's not like they're lying. I was there, Val. I went to those parties."
Val's eyes softened as she listened, not interrupting. She gently reached out, taking Riley's hand in hers, a silent gesture of reassurance.
"It's like... I didn't see anything, you know? Nothing happened to me. But hearing what people are saying now... it's making me wonder what I might've missed." Riley's voice wavered. "It's making me question everything."
Val squeezed her hand, her voice calm and steady. "It's okay to feel confused, Riles. You were young, and he was someone you trusted. I can't imagine how this all must feel, but remember—you're not responsible for anything he did. You were just a kid trying to make it, and he... well, he had power, and he used it."
Riley nodded, taking a deep breath. "I keep thinking of all the young artists who trusted him. How many of us he convinced he had our best interests at heart. And now... now, he's this monster in the news. It's like finding out someone who helped you could've been hurting others the whole time."
Val wrapped her arm around Riley's shoulders, holding her close. "Whatever happens, Riley, you're not alone in this. And if you feel like speaking out, I'll be right there with you. You don't owe him anything—you only owe it to yourself to heal, however you need to."
The two sat in silence for a while, comforted by each other's presence. Riley felt a flicker of hope, knowing she had Val's unwavering support.
