Bree, Riley, Grace, and Val were all hanging out at the ice rink after practice. The air was chilly, and they each wore their favorite coats to keep warm. Bree had a stylish, light blue coat with faux fur trim, while Riley sported a cozy, oversized maroon one that looked incredibly warm.
As they all gathered near the benches, Bree excitedly turned to Grace. "Hey, Grace, what do you think of my top?" she asked, referring to her new coat with a proud smile.
Grace glanced at Bree's coat and smiled. "It's super cute, Bree! The fur trim really suits you."
"Thanks!" Bree beamed, twirling a bit to show off the coat.
Just then, Riley chimed in, tugging at her maroon coat. "Grace, what about mine? What do you think of my top?" she asked with a grin, also referring to her coat.
Before Grace could respond, she noticed Val standing a bit away from them, waving in their direction with a casual, relaxed smile. For a moment, Grace misunderstood the conversation, thinking Riley was subtly asking her opinion about Val, whom Riley had been spending a lot of time with lately.
Grace turned back to Riley with a knowing smile. "Honestly, I love it! It totally suits you," she said, imagining the pair together in her head.
Riley raised an eyebrow, confused but pleased with the compliment. "Uh, thanks, Grace!"
At that moment, Val walked over, noticing Grace's amused expression. "What's going on?" Val asked, her usual nonchalant tone making the others chuckle.
Bree, still showing off her coat, playfully nudged Riley. "Looks like we both got Grace's approval!"
Val, catching the tail end of the conversation and the puzzled look on Riley's face, glanced between them. Grace, realizing her misunderstanding, blushed slightly. "Oh! I mean, your coats—they look great on both of you," she quickly added, trying to cover her mix-up.
Riley and Bree laughed, sensing something was a little off but not pressing the issue. Val just shrugged and joined in the laughter, her easygoing nature helping to smooth over the awkward moment.
