Prologue

The bar was packed. There was not an open seat in sight, people dancing and talking all over the place.

Johanna Kaufmann was enjoying a drink, successfully avoiding quite a few attempts at picking her up.

What she didn't know was that someone would be successful that night. And she would be so happy he was.

Javy Machado had just entered the bar with some friends on a short two week leave. The moment he walked in, he clocked the woman at the bar.

Johanna was quite possibly one of the most beautiful women he had ever seen. There was something about her that seemed to draw him in, just by a look.

So he decided to go for it. Hell, what did he have to lose?

Javy walked up to the bar, right next to Jo, before waving the bartender down. “I'll have what she's having.”

Jo raises an eyebrow, but doesn't do more than side eye the man.

But then Javy takes a sip of his drink. He ends up coughing, not expecting the strong combo. “Damn, you've got a strong taste. Have had a combo like this since college.” He then proceeds to take a long drink of it.

Jo snorts out a laugh. “This isn't even my strongest.”

And that's how their night's long conversation started. Not because Javy was purposely trying to pick Jo up. But because he was genuinely himself in that initial moment. It was refreshing, to say the least.

Despite Jo claiming this drink wasn't the strongest she could take, having more than one was a sure way to end up drunk. Both fortunately and unfortunately, Javy and Johanna had two each, on top of some shots.

It was safe to say they were well past tipsy.

So it wasn't a surprise when Javy offered a different venue so they could, well continue, their conversation.

Luckily, Javy's apartment wasn't far from the bar, so the two could walk there. Although it did take twice a long as usual because they were both definitely stumbling. (And no, Javy didn't walk into a light pole, it was in his way.)

After a few tries, they got the door open and shoes off before grabbing some water from the fridge. Both knew they should at least try to sober up a little. Hopefully, the hangovers wouldn't be bad in the morning.

But once they had drained some of the alcohol from their systems, they still had enough liquid courage to do something about their very obvious flirtation.

The minute Jo leaned forward to kiss Javy, it was over. She pulled back just enough for the two to look at each other before Javy went back in for a second kiss.

And then a third.

And so on, and so on, and so on.

Soon enough, clothes were being thrown about the room, beds were being disturbed, and kisses were being placed all over bodies.

The two lasted well into the night, simply enjoying the other in a way they hadn't let themselves in a very long time.

It may have started out as last, but it was quickly turning into something more. Or at least, it could very easily evolve into something more. (It depended on who you asked.)

Regardless, the one perfect night Johanna Kaufmann and Javy Machado shared was quickly coming to an end.

And unfortunately, it would be quite some time before they would meet once again.

Javy woke up with a slight headache but a cold bed. He looked to his right, clearly seeing the signs of another person next to him during the night.

Even with a hangover, Javy could clearly remember everything that had happened the night before. He's got to be honest. It was probably the best night he has ever had.

Johanna was unlike any woman he had met. And not in that cliche ‘she's not like other girls’ way. But in the way where he felt he could truly talk to her. He could be himself 100%, not just half.

Javy felt he didn't need to worry about what he said or did when he was around her. There was just something about Johanna that gave him such a comforted feeling. One he hadn't felt in a very long time.

So, to realize she had snuck out hurt just a little bit. Obviously, he doesn't know the full story, but a note would have been nice.

Hell, they had never gotten to the point of exchanging phone numbers.

Javy lets out a groan before falling back into his bed, hands pressed to his eyes.

Somehow, he just knew it was going to be a long time before he could get Johanna and their one, perfect night, out of his head.

Luckily for him, Johanna was thinking the same thing.

Neither thought a recall mission would be the ticket to bringing them back together. But when they get the calls, bags are packed, and they are off.

Because for these two, the love affair had only just begun.

BOOM! INTRO! No but I'm super excited for you all to read this story. I'm not someone who really enjoys the ‘one night stand’ trope a lot, mostly because it's used very poorly most of the time.

But I couldn't let this idea go. I thought it would be a fun challenge, so I hope you all enjoy!.

Johanna and Javy are so different from any other couple I've written, so I'm glad you're coming on this journey with me.

Get ready for a wild ride, starting next chapter. Bye guys!!!
