"You know, April, do you know how soulmarks work? Because if two soulmates meet, how do they complete the bond?" Andy asked, sitting down in his seat on the other side of April during lunch.
"Why are you asking me?" She asked, and Andy shrugged.
"Severide doesn't know," Andy said, and she turned raised eyebrows on Kelly, who shrugged.
"No one told me," he defended, and she rolled her eyes.
"I honestly think it's a gradual thing," Daisy, a tall brunette, said. "Because my grandparents on my mother's side are soulmates, and they said their bond gradually improved. Something about the same mark slowly appears on the other side of their body, like it fades in. It grows as your relationship grows."
"So it's not like when they have sex?" Andy asked, genuinely confused, and Kelly threw his apple at his head. "Hey! It's a valid question."
"You're an idiot," April said with an eye roll, and Andy whined and threw Kelly's apple at April's head.
"So..." Kelly said, turning to Daisy when the two started bickering beside him. "What was their bond afterwards?"
"Well, you know every soul-bond is different. Some can feel each other's emotions. Some can read each other minds or, more like, cognitively connected that one look can carry a whole conversation. But others say they don't feel anything different from a strong, healthy relationship," she shrugged and then narrowed her eyes at Kelly, studying him. "Why?"
"Curious," Kelly shrugged nonchalantly. Daisy was about to call his buff when the rest of their group arrived, and the conversation shifted.

The rest of the day, Kelly waited for class to be over. He called Connor seconds after Matt had left, and Connor reassured him that he could see Matt in his room. Sadly, Connor couldn't go into Matt's room as Gregory had placed guards outside his bedroom and balcony doors, completely locking Matt in his room. Once again, he wanted nothing more than to march over to Casey's residence and kill Gregory and Nancy Casey. He could hear the anger in Connor's voice, and he was pacing from the constant movement on Connor's end of the call. Not too long into their phone call, Heather's voice appeared, and Kelly had never heard her sound so angry. There was a sharp bite to her words, and she ranted in a whispered yell. Kelly assumed Connor's parents were home.
Connor and Heather didn't tell him much, other than they had come home to find an angry Gregory Casey, and they were dismissed, but Connor could hear Gregory's voice from outside the house.
All Kelly knew was that Heather and Connor were taking turns watching Matt from Connor's bedroom through the night, and Kelly had slept with the phone by his bed.
Now, Kelly was waiting for one of them to come pick him up from school so he could finally get some answers. He wanted to skip school, especially when he found out from Andy that Connor skipped school to keep watch over Matt during school, and he wanted updates on his boyfriend.

"So...?" Kelly asked the second he got into the backseat of Heather's car.
"You two have a shift," Heather said, surprisingly cold and didn't even bother to turn and look at him or Kelly.
"Heather, please," Kelly pleaded. He didn't care how desperate he sounded.
"Connor said that the blinds were closed around ten this morning. He couldn't see anything after that, so Robert was sent to deal with the office work. Connor and I are expected at the office in an hour, so I'm dropping you off at work, and then I'm leaving," she explained with a bite to her voice. Andy placed a hand on her shoulder, and she sighed and closed her eyes, taking multiple deep breaths. "I'm sorry," she said, finally looking at Kelly. "Gregory was pissed about something, and we didn't see Matt until he was sneaking back into his room, seconds before the guards were posted. Elizabeth had even tried going over it, saying she wanted to catch up with Nancy, but no one was allowed into the house. When I left Connor's this morning, their employees, mainly the kitchen staff, maids, and assistants, all left, and it was only the guards in the house."
