Blythe and Colton were ushered into separate rooms in the Justice Building. They would be allowed to say goodbye to their family and friends.

After a few moments, the door opened and her family walked in.

"You alright?" Her father asked her.

Blythe nodded.

"There is a chance that you could win." Her oldest brother, Rodger, assured. "Everything Gale and the Everdeens taught you might come in handy."

"Here. A little something to remind you of home." Her father said, placing a bag of cookies into her palm. Cinnamon cookies. Her favorite. "Share them with Colton, if you'd like." He added.

Blythe just nodded. It was all she could do to keep the tears from falling. She hugged each of her family members before Peacekeepers took them away.

The next group to walk in was the Everdeens.

"Hi guys." Blythe said. The three greeted her, but she wasn't really sure what to say.

"Just take what we've all taught you and use it." Katniss broke the silence. "I honestly believe you have a chance of winning." Blythe nodded.

"I have something for you." Prim said. "Katniss gave it to me, but I want you to have it. For luck."

She handed Blythe a necklace with a phoenix in the middle.

"Thank you, Prim

"Thank you, Prim." Blythe said, taking it. She hugged Prim, tightly.

Blythe had always been very fond of Prim. And Gale's baby sister, Posy.

Speaking of Gale and his family, they were the next people to come in.

There wasn't really much to say. Posy toddled over to Blythe and she picked her, placing her in her lap.

"What'cha got there, Posy?" Blythe asked.

"Flowers." Posy replied. They were different colored flowers.

"They're very pretty." Blythe said.

"Read today?" Posy asked Blythe.

Frequently, Blythe and Prim would go over and read to Posy.

"Another time, Posy." Gale said, taking Posy from Blythe. "Blythe's busy today." He looked towards his mother.

"Well let you guys talk alone." Hazelle said.

Blythe hugged the Hawthornes'.

Posy started fussing and whining as Hazelle started to carry her out.

"What is it?" Hazelle asked.

"Blythe. Flowers." Posy said, holding out the flowers to her.

"Thank you, Posy." Blythe said, smiling.

The others left, leaving Gale and Blythe alone.

"You can do this, Blythe." Gale started. "Just."

"I know. I know." Blythe said. "Take what you and Katniss taught me." Gale chuckled.

"You have a chance to win." Gale added. "Yeah, Katniss and Rodger told me that too." Blythe continued.

"Where'd you get this?" Gale asked, referring to the phoenix necklace.

"Primrose gave it to me." Blythe replied.

"It's really pretty on you." Gale said.

"Thanks." Blythe said.

"I guess there's nothing left for me to say." Gale said. He started to head towards the door.

"Gale." Blythe said, reaching her hand out to stop him.

"Yeah?" Gale asked as he turned to look at her.

Blythe desperately wanted to tell Gale her feelings for him, but part of her couldn't. So instead, she hugged. Gale returned the hug and kissed her on the forehead.

As they were hugging, Peacekeepers came in and pulled them apart.

Blythe let a few tears roll down her cheeks as she watched them drag Gale away.

Nobody else came to see her and she was lead to a Capitol issued car where it would bring her and Colton to a Capitol train. This train would take them to the Capitol and their impending death. Effie complimented Blythe's dress. Reporters and cameras swarmed them before they got on the train.

The tribute train looked gorgeous. Nothing like the trains that run through the District, holding coal. Effie showed them to their sleeping quarters. She and Colton were lead into a cart that was filled with food. Blythe's eyes marveled at it. Even though Blythe's family was a bit more well off compared to those in the Seam, it certainly wasn't enough. The food was delicious and Blythe practically gorged herself. She thought it would be a good idea to put on a few pounds before the Games so she didn't look so scrawny. Haymitch was nowhere to be found.

"And the flowers I'm guessing are from Posy?"

Blythe nodded.

"Oh, my Dad gave me some cookies." Blythe said to Colton. "We can share them."

"Thanks." The boy said. They split the pack of cookies in half and ate them.

After they ate, they watched the reapings with Effie. Finally, Haymitch showed up. Albeit drunk.

"I missed dinner?" He asked. He then proceeded to get sick and trip into it, making Effie leave in disgust.

Colton and Blythe rushed forward to help him up. They brought him to his sleeping quarters.

Colton could tell Blythe's uncomfortableness as he started to strip Haymitch.

"You can go." He said. "I can handle this."

Blythe nodded and left. She found a Capitol worker and asked for water, ginger ale, and aspirin.

When she returned to Haymitch's room, she shielded her eyes, as Colton was dressing him.

"I brought him stuff to help sober him up." Blythe said.

"Thanks." Colton said. "You can just leave it on the table."

Blythe nodded and did so before leaving.
