During the other two training days, Blythe and Colton learned a lot of new skills. Blythe learned she was quite handy with a slingshot. Colton learned he was good with making snares and traps. Blythe also took notice of what the other tributes were doing.
During training, Blythe had noticed a girl her age at the archery station. It was the female tribute from District 6. Blythe knew her name to be Aurelia Sorrin. Her brother had won the Games a few years ago. Blythe watched her. She was pretty good at archery. She didn't realize she had walked over to her until Aurelia turned around.
"Can I help you?" She asked.
"Oh sorry. I was just observing." Blythe said as she started to leave. "I didn't mean to bother you."
"I don't care if you want to work at this station too." Aurelia said. "I don't mind sharing."
"It's alright." Blythe said. "I'm not very good at shooting."
"Then stay and learn." Aurelia said. "That's what we're here for."
Blythe looked around.
"I don't think anyone will mind." Aurelia said.
"Alright." Blythe nodded.
The instructor showed Blythe how to use the bow and arrow. She wasn't completely horrible, but she certainly wasn't as good Aurelia. Or even Katniss, for that matter.
Aside from being aware of the other tributes skills, Blythe was also aware or any possible alliances. Aurelia might be a good option.
During lunch was they did the individual performances.
Soon, Blythe was the only one left in the lunch area as she was the last tribute to go. And then she was called down.
Blythe looked up to see a group of people sitting around. No one noticed she had walked into the Training Center. They were too busy eating. She understood it. After watching all watching all these kids, they were bored and hungry. But, they still had one more tribute to observe. They should at least give her the decency to watch her.
Blythe cleared her throat.
One or two people looked in her direction, but went back to their meal.
Blythe cleared her throat again, a bit louder. "Excuse me." She spoke up.
Everyone looked at her now. A dark haired man with a uniquely styled beard referred to a piece of paper, probably to recall her name.
"You may start whenever you're ready, Miss Mellark." He instructed.
Blythe assumed this was Seneca Crane, the new Head Gamemaker this year. She nodded.
For her individual performance, Blythe combined her acrobatic skills with her newly acquired slingshot skills. She did her tricks as she shot rocks at targets.
After about fifteen minutes, they stopped her. "Thank you, Miss Mellark. That'll be all." Seneca said. "You may go."
A little bit later, they were all eating dinner.
"How was the individual performance?" Cinna asked.
"I think it went well." Colton replied. "At least for me."
"Aside from the lack of attention." Blythe mumbled. "Nobody noticed that I was in the room until I spoke up." "Yeah, there's a disadvantage of being one of the last tributes." Haymitch said. "By the time they get to you, they're bored, hungry, and ready to be done."
"Obviously." Blythe said.
After dinner, they all sat down to watch the training scores that would be announced by Caesar Flickerman. As was expected, the Career Districts, Districts 1,2, and 4, got pretty high scores. Then Colton and Blythe's scores were announced. Caesar announced Colton's score as 7. The others commented saying that wasn't a bad score.
"Blythe Mellark." Caesar said. Blythe suddenly felt nervous. "8."
"Not bad scores for either of you." Haymitch replied.
The others agreed. Blythe smiled.
"Get some rest." Haymitch said. "Tomorrow, you guys are prepped for the interviews."
Blythe and Colton nodded and headed to their rooms.
