3:15 AM

Jay woke up with Rhea lying on his chest. He kissed the top of her head, slowly moved out of bed, opened the door, and walked down the hall towards the bathroom. When he was done, he washed his hands, opened the bathroom door, and stepped into the hall.

And there they were once again, but this time leaning against a wall, their hair covering their face as usual.

Stranger: (mockingly) Going new places, huh?

Jay: (sighing) What do you want now?

Stranger: (sneering) Oh, just checking in on my favorite failure. Heard you're moving in with her. Cute.

Jay: (angrily) You're not real. You're just a figment of my imagination.

Stranger: (chuckling darkly) Real or not, I'm here. And I'm not going anywhere.

Jay: (defiantly) I don't have time for this. I'm happy. I'm moving forward.

Stranger: Happy? Is that what you call it? You think Demi can fix you? You think moving in with her will make everything better?

Jay: (clenching his fists) I know it will. She's my future.

Stranger: (laughing) Your future? You're delusional. You'll just drag her down with you. You always do.

Jay: (taking a deep breath) I won't let you ruin this for me. I'm stronger than you.

Stranger: (smirking) We'll see about that. But for now, enjoy your little fairytale. It's only a matter of time before it all comes crashing down. And I will be right, as always.

Jay: (stepping back) You're wrong. I'm done listening to you.

Stranger: (angry) Don't you fucking move!

Jay froze, his heart pounding. The Stranger's tone was more menacing than ever. Last time, Jay had walked away from the Stranger, and it was clear they didn't like it.

Jay: (nervously) What do you want from me?

Stranger: I want you to face reality. You can't hide behind your little love story forever. Sooner or later, you'll fuck it up. You always do.

Jay: (shaking his head) No. Not this time. I'm not the same person I was.

Stranger: (laughing sinisterly) You're exactly the same. A coward. A failure. But keep pretending. Let's see how long it lasts before your perfect world crumbles.

Jay: (defiantly) Get out of my head.

Stranger: (mockingly) You wish. I'm not going anywhere. I'll be here, watching.

Jay: (taking a deep breath, trying to steady himself) I'm done with this. I'm stronger than you think.

Stranger: (smirking) We'll see about that. But remember, I'm always here. In the shadows, waiting.

Jay turned and walked away, determined not to let the Stranger's words get to him. He needed to be strong, for himself and for Rhea. As he reentered the bedroom, he glanced back, half-expecting to see the Stranger still standing there, but the hall was empty.

He slid back into bed, carefully pulled her head onto his chest, and closed his eyes.
