The Next Day

It's a warm morning in Orlando. The city is slowly waking up—birds have started singing, and cars are beginning to drive through the empty streets. People, half-asleep, are heading to their jobs. And what about our favorite couple? Let's take a look.

7:00 AM

The house is quiet, almost as if no one is living there. The dogs are sleeping upstairs with their mom, all cuddled up, but someone is missing in there. I wonder what he's up to.

Downstairs is quiet as well... except for the sound coming from the bathroom. Jay is enjoying his morning shower. After he's done, he brushes his teeth and takes a good look at himself in the mirror. Everything seems fine, but there's one thing that just doesn't feel right to him. What could it be?

7:40 AM

Since he got home, this has almost become a routine. He makes coffee for her, tea for himself, and prepares a delicious breakfast. As he's putting the mugs on the table, he hears something clink on the ground. When he looks in front of him, he sees them.

Rhea: Thank you kindly, Jonathan.

Jay: But of course.

As he chuckles, he stares at her for a moment... something is on his mind.

Rhea (noticing): Huh?

Jay (shaking his head): It's nothing, just... you know, is it good?

Rhea (sipping): Oh yeah.

Jay (smiling): Good.

Rhea (putting her mug down): So...

Jay (scratching behind his head): So...

Both: How did you sleep?

They exchange an awkward smile.

Rhea (blushing): Um... you can go first.

Jay (rubbing his hands): Ladies first.

Rhea: No, no, no, go first.

Jay (smiling): Okay, well... Uhm... Okay, I guess?

Rhea: You don't know?

Jay (laughing): Well, my head and back don't hurt, so I guess it's okay.

Rhea: Well, that's good... Did you have any dreams?

Jay: I did.

Rhea (excited): Really?! About us?!

Jay (smile fading): No.

She's a bit disappointed by his answer; she expected something else.

Rhea: Oh...

Jay (taking a deep breath): I was on some bridge, looking down into deep water, wondering what would happen if I just jumped, you know? I know it sounds stupid and all, but... I was really tempted to just...
