3 DAYS LATER
It's been three days since Jay was released from the hospital, and he's making progress. It's slow progress, but it's still progress. Despite trying his hardest to remember Rhea, he just can't. He feels something toward her—love, maybe? A connection? But it's definitely something, and that counts. What also counts is that he's sitting in the kitchen every morning and every night, looking at photos with her, going over them again and again. He studies their facial expressions, his and hers. Right now, he's sleeping in the living room. It just doesn't feel right to him to sleep in the same bed as her. It really pains her, but on the other hand, she low-key understands.
7 AM
Rhea wakes up in their giant bed, all alone. She's sleeping on his side, cuddling his pillow—she just misses him. But a delicious smell is coming from downstairs, and it wakes her up. She puts on some lazy clothes and heads down.
As she descends the stairs, she hears quiet music playing.
(Sorry about that)
In the kitchen, Jay is making waffles and brewing coffee for her and tea for himself.
Rhea: (Smiling) Well, well, well, good morning.
He turns around to her with a smile.
Jay: (Cheerful) Morning.
She sits down at the counter.
Rhea: (Yawning, sleepy) How did you sleep?
Jay: (Lighthearted) Uh... good. I'm lucky that couch is super big! What about you?
Rhea: (Hesitant) Yea... g-good.
Jay: (Concerned) You sure?
She gives him a fake smile, not realizing he can see right through it.
Rhea: (Faking a smile) Yeah.
Jay: (Scratching his chin, skeptical) Is that so?
She looks really sad, and he hates seeing her like that.
Jay: (Trying to cheer her up, smiling) You know what?
Rhea: (Curious) Hm?
Jay: (Enthusiastic) How about we do something fun today? Pool, gaming, workout, movies, and then we'll finish by taking these devils out.
He says this while patting their beloved dogs.
Suddenly, a smile grows on her face.
Rhea: (Genuinely smiling) That sounds nice.
After breakfast, they slowly move outside.
The sun was warm, and the backyard felt like a secluded paradise. Jay and Rhea decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather by lounging out by the pool to catch some sun. Rhea lay down on one of the loungers, her toned body glistening in the sunlight as she adjusted herself on her stomach, resting her head on her arms.
Jay couldn't help but notice how stunning she looked. His eyes were drawn to her, particularly to the curve of her lower back and, well, her butt. He stared for a moment longer than he meant to, a mix of surprise and something else washing over him.
