The morning sunlight streamed through the open windows of my small room, casting a warm glow over the space. I groaned softly as I rolled over in my bed, and accidentally rolled out of it and into the floor right into my butt with a loud thud.

"Agh... Damn." I mumbled as I tried to get up. I was exhausted. I didn't really feel like doing anything today. But what choice do I have anyway.

I put my hair in a high ponytail and got dressed in my not so fancy clothes. It was traditional Chinese clothes. It's just how everyone dresses out here.

I checked my reflection in the mirror, noticing the bags under my eyes and the dullness to my usually shiny hair. I hadn't been sleeping well lately, and it was starting to show.

I took a deep breath, trying to shake off my tiredness. I had work to do, and I couldn't afford to let my exhaustion slow me down.

I left my room and stepped out into the village square. The air was crisp and cool, with a hint of frost in the air. It was a beautiful day, but I couldn't bring myself to appreciate it.

As always, I was immediately met with the stares and whispers of the villagers. They were just so obsessed with me.

I had to start getting Mr. Oliver's deliveries. And not be late. I needed the full payment today.

I approached the store that will give me the deliveries. The fat ass man was sitting while munching on a cookie. He didn't even bother to tell where the heck is the bags. So I snapped my fingers impatiently. "Hey you. Where is Hanmer Delivery?"

Mr. Fat man, as I liked to call him in my mind, finally looked up from his damn cookie. He slowly wiped his hands on his shirt, leaving a trail of crumbs behind, and pointed towards the back of the store. "Back there," he grunted, gesturing vaguely.

I rolled my eyes and made my way to the back, where the deliveries were usually kept.

This place was actually a bit close to the royal castle. If you listened closely, you can hear the water fountain running calmly. I liked to stand and listen to it for a minute. I closed my eyes, cherishing this rare calm moment.

But suddenly something interrupted my peace. I heard a high pitched scream, it sounded like a child's scream if I wasn't wrong.

My eyes snapped open, and I looked around for it's source.

And there I saw it. It was Evan, and he was holding a kid up by his hair, the child's toes were barley touching the ground. And though it was snowing, the kid didn't have much clothes on.

He was definitely a slave.

It was a common sight in this village, slaves being treated like animals and objects. But seeing a child being treated so cruelly was always sickening.

I closed my eyes, and grabbed the bags over my shoulder. It's okay, he'll get used to it... I should mind my own business.

"Please stop! Please!" The kid yelled with a cracked and shaky voice.

I stopped in my tracks, the kid's plea making me pause. I wanted to ignore it, I really did. But something about his voice, his desperation, tugged at me.

It was as if I was seeing myself there. Desperately begging everyone for help, but no one ever helped. If someone had helped me in the past. If only one person stood up for me... I would've, seen that person as my only hero. Maybe... I wouldn't be as cruel as I am now.

I sighed heavily. Why me. dammit.. I rolled my eyes and dropped the bags into the floor.

I approached them, the cold snow crunching under my feet. Evan saw me, and a mocking smile appeared on his face as recognition set in.
