It had been a week since Adeline had started at the BAU. She had sensed some awkwardness in the office in that time but thanks to the help of Penelope Garcia she had figured out why.

The team had a case and ultimately Emily had died. Only, she was here, alive. JJ and Hotch knew she was alive and had to keep the secret from the rest of the team. Emily hadn't been back long. The team were reliving the trauma from her death and celebrating her existence at once.

Adeline sat with Penelope in her computer den. Adeline was grateful for someone like Penelope who would talk at her more than talk to her. They enjoyed each other's company even though they were almost complete opposites in personality.

"I noticed, you've still got nothing on your desk," Penelope said, her tone suggestive.

Adeline let out a deep breath, contemplating Penelope's words. "Do I need something on my desk? It's just a desk."

"Yes, you do," Garcia insisted, her excitement palpable as she swiftly pulled out her phone and snapped a selfie with Adeline. She hurried back to her computer, connected her phone, and printed the photo. With nimble fingers, she carefully cut out the picture and placed it in a pink, puffy-paint frame adorned with glitter, plastic gemstones, and lettered beads that spelled out 'PG + AB FRIENDS 4 EVER'.

"Here you go!" Garcia beamed, presenting the framed photo to Adeline.

Adeline took the picture and couldn't help but smile at the heartfelt gesture. The embellished frame reflected Penelope's vibrant personality and her genuine effort to make Adeline feel welcome in the BAU.

"Thank you, Penny. I love it," Adeline said sincerely, appreciating the sentiment behind the gift.

Garcia's eyes sparkled with delight. "I'm so glad! Now you have something to brighten up your desk."

"That I do. I'll go put it there now." Adeline smiled as she left Penelope at her computer. She almost skipped back to her desk. She felt happy that she was able to start coming out of her shell a little more. She hadn't been out on a case with the team yet, so she wasn't sure how that would go. But that would soon change as Penelope hurries through the office signalling to meet in the conference room.

"Workplace massacre this morning at Synalock Incorporated," Penelope begins to brief on the case. Immediately bringing the crime scene photos up on screen. "That's in Charlottesville, which is practically our own backyard."

Adeline looks around the room at the team, taking in the hustle and bustle. She notices Spencer who has his attention on the screen. He looks a lot more grown up now than what he did four years ago. Of course, time has passed and he's aged. He's aged well. His haircut short on the sides and long on top suits him well. His features are now more chiselled, you could cut stone with his jawline. He's dressed roughly the same in smart casual attire. Today he wore a blue striped shirt, in which the sleeves were rolled up to his elbow showcasing his forearms, a grey coloured waistcoat and patterned tie. He looked good. Really good.

Adeline was pulled out of her daydream quickly when Emily said, "that's a high body count."

"Yeah eight victims in total. All employees, including the CEO. Five were shot, three were stabbed to death," Penelope continued to brief.

Spencer pointed out, "A gun and a knife. That's highly unusual." JJ counteracted with, "It could be two killers."

Rossi, a founding father of the BAU, shared his thoughts, "That would be the first time for a workplace killing."
