On a typical day when the Avengers had no missions to attend to, the team found themselves gathered in the compound, taking a break from saving the world. Lani woke up feeling exhausted, longing for a day of relaxation. The pouring rain outside made it the perfect day to stay in, watch movies, indulge in junk food, cry over Taylor Swift's new album, and simply lounge in her room.
Lani was feeling so lazy that she didn't even bother to go downstairs for food. Instead, she relied on someone to bring food to her, claiming she felt unwell.
She called Lena on FaceTime and found her also lounging in bed, eagerly awaiting her food delivery from Peter.
"What reason did you tell them to get food deliveries?" Lena inquired.
"Migraine. And you?" Lani chuckled as Lena casually shrugged, admitting, "Honestly, I can't even remember."
Peter arrived with a tray of food for Lena, his warm smile lighting up the screen as he greeted Lani over FaceTime. They chatted about his school and his progress with MJ, sharing a lighthearted moment. After Lena finished her meal, she handed him the plate and told him to go away.
With a chuckle, he said, "You guys need an acting coach, this is just straight-up bad," and headed towards the door leaving Lena and Lani alone.
Just as Lena settled back into her bed, Friday's voice startled them with an announcement.
"Leilani, Yelena. Mr. Stark has requested your presence in the living room for a movie night," the AI assistant informed them.
Groaning at the thought of socializing, they quickly tidied up their appearances. Lena put her hair in a high ponytail while Lani fixed her messy bun. Lani also applied some concealer to hide her tired eyes. Ready to join the others, they left their rooms and headed downstairs.
Downstairs, Bucky and Sam settled onto the plush couch, eagerly anticipating the start of the movie night with the rest of the team. Bucky couldn't shake the feeling of curiosity about Lani's absence throughout the day. He overheard Peter mentioning her migraine, but Bucky couldn't shake the suspicion, considering he had heard her playing loud music just a few hours earlier.
"Hey, do you think Lani will join us for the movie?" Bucky leaned in towards Sam, his eyes darting to the living room entrance as the rest of the team began to filter in.
"I have a feeling that Tony will eventually coax her out of her room. Why do you care?" Sam gave him a suspicious look.
"Just curious," Bucky casually replied, piquing Sam's curiosity even more.
Thor joined them on the couch and handed each man a beer.
"What's the discussion about, Sargent and Birdman?" Thor inquired, prompting Sam to roll his eyes at the nicknames.
"Well, Bucky was just wondering if-" Sam began, but was abruptly silenced by Bucky's intense glare.
"I was just thinking out loud how much force it would take for me to shatter Sam's beloved Redwing with my arm," Bucky pondered, fixing a stern gaze at Sam as a silent warning.
"This is exactly why you only have one friend," Sam retorted sassily as he rose from his seat and shifted to the armchair.
"Don't fret, my slightly larger but still relatively small friend, I shall stand as your companion," Thor interjected, playfully nudging Bucky, who let out a resigned sigh as Sam chuckled from his new nest.
As Lani and Lena entered the living room, the team was scattered across the sofa and armchairs, with cushions strewn across the floor. Lani hesitated to sit on the floor for the entire movie.
