Chapter 2: Heat waves new faces?

Fire Department

Tuesday

11:00am

Gray's P.O.V.

The heat waves was damn near killing my brain. I was relaxing with the guys waiting for the pain in the ass chief to arrive. Scrolling through my social media I saw pictures of Lucy and some model guy. I got suspicious for a few minutes not like I care about flames for brains but something was off. I couldn't see much on the guy's profile since it was private. "Is Lucy cheating on Natsu? I don't want to assume." I let my judgment get the best of me. I hate to admit but seeing what happened last time with him and Lisanna made me question his relationship habits.

"I don't fucking know. Bunny girl is famous she's probably sleeping with the dude. Gihee." Gajeel spoke drinking a bottle of water. The weather felt like a hundred degrees. The fans weren't doing shit blowing out more hotter air. I preferred to stay cool in body temperature not roasting in my own skin.

"That's NOT manly!! Natsu needs to keep her in check as a man!" Elfman stated boldly, pissed off that this was Natsu's fault if it is true. I took a beer out of the fridge in the lounge room, popping the drink open. I chugged it down and Laxus blew his cigarette laughing. "I wouldn't be surprised the dumbass is dating a model who knows what fuckers want her and I don't blame them. She's a nice piece of ass but kind of an annoying sister." He blew smoke and checked the truck.

"Who are you guys talking about? Man, it's hot as balls outside! I had to drop Igneel off at your house. Levy's babysitting. I heard she got fired from the library." Natsu appeared and Gajeel didn't say anything only a blank look on his face. "Do you know this dude that's working with Lucy?" I questioned him showing him the images on Facebook.

"Gay no wonder your hairs pink." Laxus blew smoke and everybody held back a snicker. "Kiss my ass!"

"No. I remember the conversation me and her had about this guy who's her employee at her job sight but I ain't seen no photos. What the fuck?!" The boss grabbed his phone searching up his account. "Damn it! It's private! Maybe I can look through Lucy's account?" "If you get upset I'm a say I told you so." We both stalked everything and finally found the guy tagged in a photoshoot with her. Judging by the expression on Natsu's face he gave off a heavy angry aura. I couldn't blame him in all honesty I would understand towards Juvia.

"I'll kill him! Touching my woman! She belongs to me!!" The fire torch shouted angrily. I rolled my eyes and didn't even comment. It wasn't my business to begin with after all. I knew where he was coming from regardless. "Pipe down. They could be fucking as we speak. Hahahaha." Laxus said obviously messing with him but got a cold death glare.

The phone rang and the alarm went off signaling there was a fire. "We're really about to go work out in the sun? I wish it was winter." "Hell no! I hate the cold! Always bothers my skin!" "Nobody asked you!" "Shut up frosty!"

"Both of you shut the hell up and let's get moving!" Laxus pushed us to the vehicle and I scoffed.

Gajeel's P.O.V.

The heat waves were fucking ridiculous out here. This equipment was getting on my nerves. I called Levy but no answer. I was worried about shrimp. She lost her job and I know that must be hard for her. 'I'll be fine Gajeel! I can always be a stay at home wife instead!' I thought back to our recent discussion. I wanted her to reach her dreams and be the bright girl she's always been. She changed my life around and I owed her that much. I wasn't paying attention to lost in my thoughts.

"Alright! Let's go we got 17 fires!! We can do this! Right team?!" Salamander don't ask why I call him one but he looks like it to me shouted at us all. I smirked putting my hand in and everyone followed. We were prepared stopping the truck by the first house. The smoke was coming from a bedroom window. I quickly went inside using the ladder wearing my safety gear and mask.

"GRAB MY HAND!!" I heard the chief yelling at the woman who was underneath her cabinet. She seemed shaky and held her daughter to her chest. I watched as she grabs him and he lifted them up, hurrying out the door quickly. I started to have a flashback when this happened to me as a kid. That's why I made a vow to myself and for Levy I'd never let be in danger by a fire. I'll protect her with my life.

Third Person P.O.V.

"RELEASE THE HOSE!!" Natsu ordered as the water shots out of the hoses with the fire extinguisher. The crew were exhausted from speeding to one house, building after another. They finally reached their final destination but couldn't rest. Unfortunately Laxus got injured from the ceiling falling on his arm. He was rushed to the hospital. They were all to tired to go visit and had Mira go up there instead.

"Damn I'm sweating bullets!" The pink haired man stretched and undid his fireman suit. They were all sweaty and drenched for the day. It was late in the afternoon. Three unknown women watched them from afar especially the woman with ash blonde hair and dark midnight blue eyes. She stared at the tan male enticed by his body. She couldn't stop staring he was handsome and ripped with muscle. The scar on his face made her blush. She turned away once Gray looked at her along with her friends.

"Those women over there are checking us out. I wonder who they could be?" Natsu shook his head pouring water over himself. That action must have caught their attention. "Should we go over there and ask them what's their problem?" The ink haired man inquired taking off his clothes. "Why you gotta be an asshole?" "I asked a question you dumbass lizard they're giving me the creeps!" "Shut yer mouth droopy-eyes! We're not tryna' be rude! We don't know them but I'll go ask. Doesn't hurt to meet new people!" Natsu scoffs and walked across the street, to go speak to the trio leaving him behind. "Put some pants on bastard!" "

"Oh my gosh! He's coming over here! What do I do?!"

"Play it cool! He's hot and damn his v-line is perfect! You sure I can't have him? Wait never mind his friend is hotter with the necklace!"

"Stop being thirsty thots! We don't even know them! For all we know they could be kidnappers!"

The three grown women argued until the fireman interrupted their argument. "Excuse me. I couldn't help but notice you were staring at me and my friends. Did we do something wrong?" Natsu asks politely, folding his arms making the ash-blonde approach him first. "We're not kidnappers by the way! My name is Natsu! I'm a fire chief of the fire department! This is my friend Gray he works with me. That's Gajeel he's a bit of a stand offish person."

"It's nice to meet you three! I'm Marina, that's Rena and Janice! You guys save lives everyday! Do you uhh want some lemonade? We have plenty." Marina offered and they shook hands. She felt a warm sensation and her face became redder. His green eyes gave a look of concern. The other two were talking with the others bringing some cups over.

"Marina what do you do for a living?" The salmon locked male smiled friendly. Despite the heat burning his back and she seemed ready to pop her top open sweating herself. "I'm a veterinarian! I love animals and treating them! I got off not to long ago." 'He's so fine ughh maybe I should give him a little peek of my shirt.' Marina thinks to herself and slowly undid her blouse which made him swallow spit. He coughed slightly hitting his chest.

"Are you okay Natsu?! Breathe!" "Nah, I'm fine! That's neat you're a vet! I'm actually wanting to get a little buddy for me and my girlfriend." Natsu responded with a grin and the atmosphere dimmed. Marina took a sip of her drink and faked a smile. "Maybe you can visit my workplace and bring your girlfriend... I would love to meet her!" She spat not meaning to sound harsh. "I'll just go by myself. How about we meet up on Friday? She might be busy anyway." A sly smirk appeared on her lips but she smiled cheering on the inside. "It would be my pleasure! Are you free right now?"

"I was about to go home but I can hangout with you for a few minutes! What about your friends?" Natsu stares at her blinking and Marina shook her head. "Do you like food? I know this little Mexican restaurant El Ranchero! I think they'll be fine! Let's go! It's hot and I'm starving!" "Then it's settled! I'm hungry too! Are we taking my car or yours?"

"Mine silly! Don't worry I can take you to your house afterwards. Deal?" "Hell yeah! I mean, sure."

"It's a date!" The woman smiles and he smiled back, waving her friends goodbye who seem to have gotten themselves some company for the time being. Unbeknownst to the males these women had motives and somehow Marina and Natsu's new friendship could possibly become something more?
