You
Hey, Kou
Something urgent came up
I'll text you when I know I can meet up with you
I love you

Bokuto looks at the message. He smiles to himself, even though he feels a little disappointed that he'll have to wait to see you.

Bokuto
That's alright
I'll wait as long as it takes for you
I love you too
🥰😍😘❤️

He puts his phone away. He had no clue that you wouldn't see his message, not for a long time. He didn't know how bad things were for you, he didn't know what you were going through. All he knew is that he wanted to see you.

The ace put on some music, putting in his earbuds. He sings along with the song that came on.

"In another life, I would be your girl. We keep all our promises, be us against the world. In another life, I would make you stay, so I don't have to say you were the one that got away. The one that got away."

"Bokuto? Is that you?" Kuroo walked up to the boy, smiling as he saw his friend.

Bokuto looks up from where he sat, blinking as his friend comes into his view. "Hey, Kuroo, Kenma. What are you doing here?"

The taller boy grins. "We were going to watch a new movie that came out today. I was successful in dragging Kenma out on Halloween, so I thought we could at least watch a scary movie together."

Kenma frowns. "I could've just played a horror game at home."

Kuroo ignores the short boy. "What about you, bro? Why are you out here by yourself?"

Bokuto gives a sad smile. "I'm waiting for Y/n. She's busy right now, so she's running a little late. We have a date to go to a haunted house together. Then, we're going back to my house to watch some scary movies."

Akaashi appeared, almost out of thin air. He raises a brow. "And she's busy? Is she even going to come at all?"

"Of course she is! Y/n has no reason to cancel on me. I think she would text me if something came up. Until I get the message, I'm waiting right here for her."

Kuroo takes a seat beside the ace, pulling Kenma down with him. "Then all of us will wait with you."

***

Hours passed. Now, it was long after midnight. The four boys were getting tired, ready to call it a night.

Bokuto sighs, looking at his phone but sees no new messages from you. "She's not coming, is she?"

Akaashi pats his shoulder. "Doesn't look like it. Sorry, Bokuto-san. Maybe things are better this way. She was too unusual and appeared randomly."

The ace felt a pain in his chest, tears pooling in his eyes. "She said she would be here. She promised this would be our night together. I don't care how busy her life is. She should've been here tonight." Tears break free, leaking streaks on his face.

Kuroo pats his back. "It's ok, bro. I bet something important came up and she hasn't had the time to get on her phone. I think she wanted to be here with you."

Akaashi snorts. "She probably had no intention to come at all. She never really came around whenever you asked her before. She clearly doesn't make the time for you, Bokuto-san. Let's call it a night."

Kuroo hums. "How about the four of us go to your house together tonight? We can watch scary movies for a while and have a sleepover. Does that sound good?"

Bokuto sniffles, wiping the tears off his face with the sleeve of his shirt. "Yeah. Let's go. I don't think I'll be seeing Y/n any time soon." He gets up, smoothing out his clothes. He looks to the moon, seeing clouds beginning to cover it. He sighs. "Come on. I wanna go home."

The four boys walk together, going into Bokuto's house once they get there. They all remove their shoes, heading into the living room.

Bokuto pauses in the doorway. "Actually, I'm gonna go change. Go ahead and pick something out. I'll be back in a moment." He heads to his room, changing his clothes. He pauses when he sees a hoodie you would usually wear. Sadness washes over him, but anger also comes over him. He takes the hoodie and throws it into his closet, slamming the door close. He leaves the room, blocking out thoughts of you as he gets ready to watch movies with the other boys.

In the end, he didn't think about you until he fell asleep. Only in his deep slumber were you the main focus of his dreams, the only thing that existed. Tears slipped out in his sleep, wetting the pillow under his face.

Bokuto Koutarou was a heartbroken boy.
