Bokuto hadn't felt any better. It's been about a month without a word from you. He played his best for the prefecture qualifiers, but couldn't beat Itachiyama. It didn't matter too much to the ace. He knew he'd be in the spring nationals, and that's what mattered.
However, he missed you more as each day passed. You were always in his head, but not once did he hear from you or anyone that knew you. To him, you just suddenly disappeared without a trace. For all he knew, you could've died. But he didn't want to believe that. You had to be alive. He needed to see you again.
Akaashi sighed as he saw his ace losing his mind over this situation. "Bokuto-san, how do you know she actually loves you? She's clearly avoiding you, not even bothering to talk to you. She stood you up on the one date you guys had planned. This is enough. You need to get over her."
Bokuto shakes his head. "No. I love Y/n and I know she loves me too. She's just busy. Something must've come up and she's unable to tell me anything. I just need to wait for her. She'll come back to me soon. I know she will."
Konoha shook his head. "This is getting a little sad, Bokuto. A girl stood you up and is completely ghosting you. If I were you, I'd give up. Maybe it wasn't meant to be."
The owl like boy clenches his hands into fists. "How can any of you say anything about her? You don't know Y/n like I do! She's just got something going on! She's going to stay with me! She's just needs time!" He storms out of the gym, fighting back the urge to cry on the spot.
Akaashi takes deep breaths inside the gym. "I'll have to convince him over time, it would seem."
Kaori gave a pitying look. "You know he's stubborn. Once his feelings are decided, it's going to be hard to change his mind."
Yukie nods, a frown on her face. "That girl doesn't seem to realize how lucky she is. I liked Bokuto for years, and all it takes is one chance meeting with someone else for him to fall for her. What's so good about that girl anyway?"
Akaashi shrugs, completely frustrated. "I don't know! I've never liked her! I always had a bad feeling about her and now I feel like I'm being proven right while Bokuto-san is getting his heart broken."
Konoha sighs. "There's not much we can do about Bokuto. Let him cool off, he'll listen to reason with time."
The setter looks at the door of the gym. "I hope he takes less time to get over this than how much it took for him to get like this. The longer he remains stubborn, the worse things are for all of us."
"Give him time, Akaashi. He just learned what heart break is. Let him go through the stages of grief in his own way."
The blue eyed boy slouches over slightly. "I hope you're right. It would be best if this was just a phase. I'll try convincing him to see things our way. I don't care how long it takes. I'll get Bokuto-san over L/n."
Meanwhile, Bokuto was trying to cool off outside. He sat on the grass, trying to get rid of the tears building in his eyes. He just couldn't believe that you suddenly stopped liking him. After all, you told him everything about your life. You had opened up to him, despite the risks. He trusted you more than anything. But waiting to hear something from you was killing him. All he wanted was to see you again.
Bokuto let a few tears fall, a silent sob escaping from him. He covers his face with his hands, not wanting to risk the possibility of someone seeing him in this state. It's not like he doesn't cry much. Since he's very expressive and emotional, it's not impossible to see him cry when he gets really sad. But this time, it's different. For the first time in Bokuto's life, he was getting emotional over a girl. To him, you're not just any girl. You were the special person that made him feel love for the first time. No way was he willing to get rid of that.
He was determined to find out what happened to you. He didn't know where to find you or any other sorcerers, but he'd try his hardest to find out what happened. He wasnt't going to let this go. Bokuto was praying that you'd come back to him soon, no matter what. You were the only one for him, that much he was sure of.
The ace released a sigh, wiping his tears away. "Y/n, where did you go? How can I find you? It doesn't matter what happened, you know I'll believe it. As long as you come back to me, I'm always gonna love you. Just - just don't leave my life like this." More tears break loose, this time he was unable to stop them.
He took his time to calm down, eventually rejoining practice. He sticks to himself, being quieter than usual. Everyone noticed the suddenly change with him, but knew there was nothing that could be done. They left him alone, letting him deal with his emotions on his own today.
Everyone prayed that everything would be fine and back to normal soon.
But Bokuto couldn't go back to normal. Not without you.
