Chapter Nine ~ Time to Heal

Tsukasa's POV:

I spent that weekend basically at the hospital, just being with Rui.

That was until school started up again, and I had to go. It's currently Monday, lunchtime, and I'm hanging out with Akito and Toya because Nene dragged Emu away from me.

Class wasn't anything special, just me staring out the window and half-assing my work.

But at least the drama club could continue on. Our director appointed another stage crew member to fill in Rui's place while he's in a coma. But when he gets out, he'll be able to continue his work from the hospital.

🥞: "Toya, why are you giving me all these carrots...?"

☕️: "Because I don't want them. If you don't either, just throw them out like you've been doing the last thirty minutes."

Akito frowned, but took all of the carrots Toya gave him. Akito had a soft spot for his partner, and I could tell easily. He picked on my way too much to not notice it.

Akito threw another handful of carrots away, before striking up a proper conversation.

🥞: "Tenma, you don't have to answer, but what's up with Kamishiro? Like how severe are his injuries?"

I paused my eating to stare at Akito for a second before answering.

🌟: "Temporary paralysis waist down...and some burns on his back, mainly first degree but some spots are second."

🥞: "Damn...that must have hurt. But he'll be okay, right?"

🌟: "Yeah. He just needs some recovery time. The worst that could happen is that the recovery could take a couple months..."

Toya gave Tsukasa a sympathetic nod, and Akito frowned. Akito didn't really know Rui, but from the few times they've interacted, he didn't seem to hate him.

☕️: "When he wakes up we should go and drop off something of condolence for him, Akito."

🥞: "Sure..."

Akito just agrees, because why not?

I go back to my food, and the rest of lunch is just us three chatting and eating our food.

After lunch I went back to class and did what I have been doing, just moped.

That was until I remembered something. Rui was getting out of his medically induced coma tomorrow! Now I actually have something to look forward to!

But I still had drama club...

🍬: "Tsukasa-kun! There you are!"

Emu came running up to me, and I waved at her.

🌟: "Hey! Are you excited to see the cast list today?"

🍬: "Yes! I know you'll get the lead, you deserve it!"

After the stage malfunction last week, it took a while for the lights to get fixed. But by Thursday they were running again and the drama teacher finished auditions. The list was supposed to be up by Friday, if nothing had gone wrong, but it was postponed to today(Monday) because of Rui's accident.

As the drama club gathered in the teacher's room, she came in with the list, handing them out to everyone so that they could see.

As soon as Emu got one we both crowded around it to check.

A quick rundown of the play: a boy wishes to become a pirate and sneaks onto a pirate ship, but the pirates don't believe that he has what it takes, so they test him with lots of tricks and pranks.
