Wrecked Experiment

Break Through

(Trigger Warning: Blood/gore detailing, and physical violence)

(5 years later)

The lab was quiet, all sorts of new experiments have come from the tubes. all with their own personalities and friendships. Some were more than others. Tails tended to not hang out with others apart from Knuckles, who he saw as a father figure in a way. The other experiments that showed themselves were, Silver, Blaze, Rouge, Amy, Infinite, and Cream. The girls did tea parties and would dress up with one another. Amy was the one to make the outfits, while Rouge would design them. They all had their own powers and responsibilities as well. Once again, Tails stayed to himself. mainly focusing on his experiments and his own works. Shadow also stayed a lone wolf from time to time. Only speaking to Rouge or Silver for maybe a few instances.  

Tails decided to snoop around one night in an old office Nathan used to work in. The office had grown dust and spiders inhabited the dark musky corners of the room. It was a big office as well, using a flashlight to look around. His paw pads helping him be extra quiet, too. When snooping around he found some old documents, he originally only went in there to find a small test tube he could use... but these documents piqued his interest more. He went through them, one by one, reading them faster than any other experiment that had been made in this facility. That's when he stumbled across a secret filed that even had a red marker on it. In red marker, it printed out on the folder 'Do Not Open'. Yet of course, he decided to open it anyways. Once he did, his eyes widened... it was a scrap document about Sonic.

He immediately went through the entire folder to see if it was solely focused on his older brother; and to his surprise... it was. He looked through the very first document, showing his basic attributes his needs... his powers even. He kept going through them, hoping for an instant that he'd find a clue to where he was at. One of the documents even stated that Sonic was a scraped experiment... that he was supposed to be left in the dust. All of sudden, on paper specifically fell out. He groaned, putting the folder down and grabbing the paper on the ground. He used his flashlight to see where it may have landed. When he grabbed it, he also saw some ink that only he could see slightly in the dark. The ink was plastered on the corner of the document that fell out. He switched his flashlight to UV lighting, the ink lit up... showing a four digit code. He was confused... until he looked at the document in his paw.

Experiment: 5-6-Z-3
AKA: Sonic T. Hedgehog

September 15th, 1993

Experiment has been contained in a secluded area in the forbidden part of the lab. It needed to be contained before harming any other experiment that may come in it's path. The cause of it's containment was feral acts and disruptive behaviors. Including the times it harmed another fellow experiment, only being the cause of this further punishment. It is scheduled for harsh experimentation and for erasing. Until further notice, it will stay in containment... no mistakes shall be made. Doctor Malace is the one taking care of it's further experiments as well. The experiment is located on floor level BG45 and around room 63 and the old meeting room.

Tails was furious with Nathan's terrible actions towards his brother, even considering Sonic as a 'it'. This was below everything he believed that Nathan would do. tails thought that maybe Sonic was transferred or found a different place to stay after so long. But this was wrong, not fair one bit. He looked back at the folder and then folded up this one specific document, dashing out of the old office to show the others. 

He rushed to where everyone else was at, finding the socials chamber where everyone would go to hang out and enjoy their time. "Everyone, listen up!" Tails yelled as he entered the room. Everyone froze in place with Tails' sudden outburst. "I have the truth about my brother, the one all of you have been told is a monster! The one Shadow talked about being a jerk and a bully to him. Sonic was punished for Shadow's actions! He protected me, and this documents shows what has happened to him in the past five years he has been missing. I need you all to hear me out and not him. I know I'm just a kid, but Shadow acts no better than a toddler." Shadow growled at Tails' antics and name calling. Ever since Sonic left, Shadow has been the top experiment and hasn't made any actions for people to even think Shadow was the one in the wrong. The all crowded around Tails as he read out the document to them.

Once the document was read out, they all looked at Shadow then back at Tails. "It says he attacked someone, probably meaning Shadow. He deserved this, you aren't proving anything Tails." Blaze said softly. "No I am! Nathan never heard me out, only listening to Shadow's side of the story. There is other documents proving that he is innocent. Please, I know you guys won't help me look for him... but please just listen to me for once!" They all looked at each other and stared. Knuckles sighed and looked at Tails, "Kiddo... if you're telling the honest truth about this, I'll back you up." Tails smiled at Knuckles, happy that the one person he talked to agreed with him. Shadow looked down, maybe it was time to come clean about his lies and prove himself. He felt guilty all these years. And the more he never saw Sonic come back, the more he honestly worried about the guy.

"Tails is right, it is my fault his brother is being hidden away. All those years ago, I used to bully Sonic... abuse him, push him to his limit. I was jealousy and blinded by Nathan's hate and my own feelings about the blue runt. I tried hurting Tails a while ago, when Sonic was still around. That pushed Sonic to injure me and put me out for a long time. It's my fault that innocent hedgehog is in there. He never meant for this, and in all fairness I never meant for it to be taken this far." The group glared and stared at him in sheer disbelief. "Are you kidding me, you lied to us for five whole years about this guy?! We could have helped the poor man out by now!" Amy yelled, now worried about Sonic's state. "You're right, Amy. We should go on a hunt for him where the document says he's located at. Hopefully it isn't tricking us into the wrong spot." Silver said with a smile. "Yeah and all the other scientists are off work today since it's a holiday!" Cream jumped in joy with her one full arm shooting up to the sky in joy. That's when Tails noticed someone was missing.

"Where is Infinite?" Tails asked. "Oh yeah, he is in a different cell today. They did a number on him with experiments to help him out with the weird... rock formation growing inside him." Referring to the phantom ruby. "Oh alright, well let's get going!" Tails shouted as they all walked out in the direction the document states to go... as Shadow follows behind quietly, hoping everyone will forgive him with time. Especially if he is able to apologize to Sonic for the cruel things he did to him without any excuse behind it.
