A week later they were in Alabama . It was the afternoon. Emily was watching Penelope while Sam was at an autograph signing. He'd just walked through the door.
"Hi daddy." Penelope said.
"Hi."
"Did you have fun?"
"Yeah." "Did you guys have fun?"
"Yeah."
"Want daddy to take you to lunch?"
"Can Emily come with us?"
"If she doesn't have any other plans."
"I'm free." Emily said.
They were at the restaurant. The waitress came up to the table.
"What a cute little girl you are." The waitress said.
"Thank you." Penelope said.
"You look just like your mommy."
Penelope laughed. "Emily isn't my mommy." "She's my babysitter."
"Oh." "What would you like?"
"Chicken strips please."
After lunch Emily and Sam took Penelope to the park. They were on a park bench watching her.
"You've seemed to adjusted to being a dad." Emily said.
"It was very overwhelming at first but I love it, I really do." "I just wish I could've been there for the start of her life." "I missed so much."
"I hope I get to have one."
"You will."
"It hurts every time a pregnancy test comes up negative."
"It'll happen."
"I know you'll be a great mom."
"Daddy come push me." Penelope said running over to the swings.
"Ok."
"Can I play on the swings with you?" Emily asked.
"Yeah."
