Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and months into years. Years since I was freed from my 'home' by the pink-winged creature in front of me, now known to me as a kaiju.
I watched as she climbed the jagged terrains of the sharp rocks that Kaiju Island possessed. Her powerful wings, adorned with shimmering scales, stretched wide as she effortlessly maneuvered over the rugged landscape.
Her name was still unknown due to the unbreakable communication barrier between us, yet that didn't stop us from bonding using gestures and certain signals to interact with each other. She had become my companion and my friend.
I stood on the cliff-like structure, staring over the broad blue sea that shimmered from the sun's bright rays, with my knee-length, amber-red hair lightly flowing in the fresh breeze. It had been about 20 years since I had last seen my bubble friends, now tripled in size, showing the maturity I had gained over the years.
The moist sea breeze lightly dampened my white gown, which I had altered over the years to fit my growing body. It clung to the various curves it had gained, along with my still pale skin now adorned with strange jet-black markings on both my neck and hands. Every five years, a new marking would appear in those specific areas, and I still didn't know why.
However, that wasn't the only thing I didn't understand about my body. It was capable of strange abilities, such as allowing me to breathe underwater like my kaiju friend, emitting various loud, ear-piercing sounds from my mouth, and using the ink-like substance on my body to imprint characters or symbols to communicate.
This specific ability was rather useful; over the years, my ability to form words or speak was replaced with high-frequency sounds my body seemingly picked up from my kaiju friend.
To put it simply, it sounded like that random little ringing sound you hear when a kaiju roar unintentionally tries to burst your eardrums.
Feeling rather refreshed and hungry, I turned towards Gigatron, the name I have given to the kaiju due to the creature's large body and glowing eye that reminded me of the glowing screens from my previous home.
I cupped my inked hands around my mouth and let out a loud whistle, which echoed across the terrain to the kaiju's ears. This caught her attention, and she turned towards me, lifting her large wing as she soared off the ledge towards me, casting a dark shadow on my body due to her massive frame blocking the sun.
I hastily walked towards her and lifted up my hand, watching as fish and mouth symbols made out of ink formed on the back of my hand, telling her that I was hungry.
Gigatron landed gracefully in front of me, her enormous eyes narrowing slightly as she examined the symbols on my hand. With a low, rumbling growl, she nudged me gently with her snout, acknowledging my request. She then spread her wings once more and took off, disappearing into the depths of the island in search of food.
I jumped down from rock to rock off the cliff, quickly jogging to the Gigatron nest, which hid a large, pink, glowing egg—the Gigatron child. Diving into the deep blue sea, I swam out to the rock formation in the middle of the sea that held her egg.
Reaching the base, I began to climb up the tall structure, my hand grazing a nest built out of thatch at the very peak. I jumped in, looking around for the bright neon pink color the egg illuminated.
...
However, the nest was empty, desolate, bare—there was nothing here.
Only a circular dent in thatch nest, mold to fit the shape of the now missing object.
"Where's the egg? Did Gigatron relocate it and forget to tell me?" I thought, slightly puzzled yet completely terrified, as my mind flashed with various possible outcomes that could have happened to the egg.
"It's not here."
Lost in my panicked thoughts, I was startled by a sudden splash in the water below the cliff I was previously on. Leaning over the edge of the nest, I saw Gigatron emerging from the sea, a large fish clutched in her jaws. She soared back up to the cliff, dropped the fish, and began to roar as if signaling that she was back.
Completely frantic about the missing egg, I let out a high-pitched signal aimed at Gigatron. The screech came out rather distressed, showcasing the seriousness of the situation.
I watched as she quickly scooped up the large fish into her narrow pale yellow beak, turned towards me, and took off. Not even a second had passed before she was perched on the edge of the nest. I screeched slightly and pointed to the empty spot that once held her egg.
She followed the direction in which my hands pointed, and the fish dropped from her mouth.
I watched worryingly as she screeched loudly, running towards the empty spot, searching as if a miracle could happen and she would find her missing baby under the now dull thatch.
"Where could it have gone?" I slowly thought, searching endlessly along with Gigatron, hoping the familiar pink glow would showcase itself again. The more I heard her screech, the faster I searched and dug, hoping to stop my friend's despairing cry.
I dug and dug until something sharp within the grass pierced the palm of my hand. I pulled back my hand, looking at the small hole it left, now filled with bright gold blood. Searching for the cause, I saw a pebble-sized piece of reflective material glinting in the sun's strong rays among the dry grass.
I carefully picked up the sharp object and inspected it closely. Behold, it was a piece of metal. What was this doing here? Only the sea gods know.
I turned towards Gigatron, who was still vigorously searching, and let out a loud whistling sound while holding up the small piece of metal to show her that I had found something. She hurriedly ran towards me on her two feet, sniffing the metal before letting out a deep and harsh grunt as her green eyes sharpened.
I stood there, thinking that this was not good based on her reaction, with concern etched onto my pale face.
I slowly reached out my hand, watching the tattoos craft together my thoughts into a simple yet informative image: an egg and a question mark. Gigatron looked down at the symbol and roared louder, then pointed her head towards a certain direction in the blue open sea.
"Huh, did something in the sea take her egg?" I thought, once again fabricating my answer to her reaction with my inked hands. It showed hands retracting back into the sea, grasping an egg. I showed the now frustrated kaiju the markings, and she shook her head before she began to burn an image into the thatch nest. It was a picture of various badly depicted buildings.
Finally catching on to what she was saying, I whimpered, my heart sinking like a stone. Her baby was taken by the same shadowy figures who had captured me... humans. The revelation hit me like a tidal wave, leaving me breathless and trembling. How they got here, to this sacred island, is a mystery in itself.
Tears welled up in my eyes as I grasped the severity of the situation. Fear filled me, mixed with rage. I clung to Gigatron, feeling the desperation and sorrow emanating from her massive form. We were bound by our shared loss, and in that moment, I vowed to do whatever it took to get her baby back.
"It's about time I see what those shadowy figures look like anyway," I thought.
Depicting another thought for the kaiju, I held up my hands, showing the following symbols: a kaiju and a silhouette of me flying above a city. Seeming to understand the image, Gigatron roared loudly, her eyes squinting with hope.
With this, I gathered my leaf coat and hopped onto the kaiju's neck, tapping her scaled neck to signal that we were ready for takeoff. With one big jump, Gigatron soared through the air, above the off-white clouds dusted with the warm rays of the sun and the slight glaze of the blue sky. I gripped her neck tightly as I breathed out slowly.
