For the past couple of seconds, pain was the only thing my body felt. It flew at an alarming rate from limb to limb throughout my body, rendering me motionless. My ears rang as a grunt left my mouth, struggling to push my ash-covered, shaking body off the ground.
Little by little, I rose to my feet, holding my pulsating head, searching for my probably injured friend. However, every turn I took only revealed large blocks of debris.
The longer I searched, the more the sounds around me amplified, as the cacophony of noise produced by the surrounding shadows who ran for safety ate away at my brain.
Wrapping my body with my now extremely pale ink hands, thoughts of being stranded in an unknown territory, alone, and separate from my now missing friend, settled in as soft whimpers, moans, and sniffles escaped my mouth.
We were separated when an unexpected incoming fist slammed forcefully into Gigantron's head, whipping it to the side, knocking off my small body that lost its grip, sending me downwards towards the hard floor.
“Gigantron,” I thought, screaming, screeching, whistling, anything to help locate my friend or help her locate me.
However, once again the only thing that responded was the noisy surroundings.
I slowly walked forward, exiting the debris-filled area onto a main road, filled with burning cars and frightened shadows screaming or crying, clinging to each other in fear. The large screen on top of the buildings flickered as my breath quickened. I slowly retraced my steps, with it being the only choice left as my eyes scanned the unpredictable creatures up ahead, ones I didn’t want to confront.
My body came to a sudden stop when a voice shouted out, “Hey, you there, are you okay!?” The voice seemingly examined my injured body, leaking golden blood.
I stood there, just looking at him, inspecting his body structure up and down. However, my attention was averted when a loud roar overpowered the haunting noise produced by the city. I quickly spun my head around, staring in the direction the sound came from.
There she was, battling against a tall humanoid figure, firing her blue-colored plasma out of her mouth at their now projected shield.
“Gigantron!” I scrambled, smiling as I ran as quickly as I could towards the fighting kaiju. My body slammed violently against the shadows that simply did not move out of the way as I passed. My mind momentarily cleared of all the fear I once had about them, only focusing on getting to my scaled friend. Sliding around a deep corner, gripping a long pole to keep my balance, I leaped forward, jumping over the running shadows, landing on a descending rail and sliding down the slippery iron.
Landing on my dirty, aching feet, I watched as the duo fought a little way ahead. Blocking my face against flying debris and smoke, my eyes glimpsed the famous red light blinking on Gigantron’s encased egg. I pushed forward, my legs burning with every step, but my determination to reach Gigantron and her egg kept me moving.
“Hang on, Gigantron!” I thought, wishing I could shout to her. I dodged a piece of debris, narrowly avoiding being hit, and kept my eyes fixed on Gigantron. The sight of her fighting so fiercely against the humanoid figure filled me with a mixture of pride and fear.
As I got closer, the heat from the flames and the acrid smell of smoke assaulted my senses, but I pushed through.
Finally, I reached the edge of the battlefield. I waved one of my arms frantically, hoping to catch Gigantron's attention while the other rested on the egg’s covered surface. Her head turned slightly, her eyes meeting mine for a brief moment, before she turned her attention towards her egg.
Shifting my eyes towards the sky, I watched in utter confusion at the moving group of stars… wait, moving stars?
I squinted my eyes to see further and focus on what exactly was moving towards us from above. The closer the star came, the more the outline of the flying things we saw before became prominent, but only ten times faster and deadlier.
“We need to get out of here,” were the only words that flew through my mind, as I screeched at Gigantron, pointing to the now bigger threat heading our way. With this, she took off running towards us, leaving behind the human figure battered into the large dome. Scooping up the egg and me in one big swoop and leaping off the cracked concrete with tremendous speed into the sky, batting her large web wing.
Shooting up above the clouds, I gripped Gigantron's frills, climbing back up towards her neck where she wouldn’t have to worry about holding me and only focus on her egg… because the egg’s life and Gigantron’s are what matter most right now.
Not mine, because the relationship between Gigantron and I will never be as strong as the love she now has for her unborn child.
I let out a soft swallow breath as my eyes watered from my corrupted thoughts combined with the harsh winds that blew small debris off Gigantron into my eye. Finally reaching her neck, wiping my eyes and securing myself down, I gripped onto her horn-like structures that protrude from the back of her head.
Loud rustling of wind against a surface met my ears as I whipped my head around, along with Gigantron, staring directly at the thing I mistook for moving stars.
My heart stopped as what seemed to be bright strings of light shot out from the object's front area, grazing against Gigantron’s body.
She lets out a volume-increased roar, increasing the feeling of anger and fear the louder her roar got.
“First they stole her egg… dragged her out of her home… encased her unborn baby and now have the audacity to try and take her life!” I thought, grinding my teeth hard against each other as my body trembled with tears once again filling my eyes.
Gripping even tighter around Gigantron’s horns, she lets out a small screech, slowly turning to peep at me for the second time today. However, this time I didn’t smile but instead stared straight into her eyes, letting her know I’m about to make her do something utterly stupid and careless.
Seeming to understand, she let out a loud roar and tilted her head back forward. Turning around once again, I stared at the flying ‘stars’ behind me getting ready to fire.
I ran with all my might up above onto Gigantron's head, down onto her beak, turning to face her, while hanging off to the side holding onto her small hook near her nose.
Now facing her, while having insight on the flying ‘stars’ behind who shot out multiple yellow lights, I slammed my left side into her beak, indicating that she should make a sharp left up into the cloud.
Following my instructions, she flew into a large clump of cloud to her left, missing the harmful light that carried small projectiles from hitting her once again. Within the cloud, I quickly displayed the rest of the plan to the best of my ability with my hands and body, hoping she understood what I’m trying to say, whilst dodging the once again annoying strings of light.
A smile crept onto my face as she let out a grunt of confirmation, before beginning to act out the plan.
Holding on tightly, my hair flying all about, watching as she soared higher in the air, right into another set of clouds, flying upwards, listening for the ‘stars’ who flew beneath her, firing at nothing before falling backwards back into her previous position.
Now behind her… targets, her the predator, them the prey.
“Bye bye,” I thought, feeling the heat from Gigantron's body that emitted a cyan blue color, watching as a brighter shade of the cyan traveled throughout her body before exiting through her beak in the form of hot plasma. Obliterating everything within its path, lighting them up into a prism of colors as they exploded.
Gigantron roared, flying over the large explosion as we both stared at each other eye to eye, sharing our excitement as she clung to her egg. However, the moment was quickly interrupted, as behind us was double the amount of what we just destroyed, exiting the cloud, now with the humanoid figure at their lead.
…
…
“Oh, come on,” I thought, exasperated, as I prepared for the next wave of attacks.
