Sleep was distant for Fourth that night, as he laid on his bed, staring at the ceiling.
Gemini knows him. Gemini called his name. Gemini has his number. He has Gemini's number. It all seemed like a fever dream—and Fourth didn't want to wake up.
Or rather sleep.
He rolled onto his stomach, pulling up Gemini's number for the umpteenth time, as a shy smile crossed his face. He buried his face in his pillow and screamed into it. He had never been this glad to be alone in his dorm today.
Pulling his reddened face away from the pillow he rolled onto his back again, holding his phone in the air. He stared at Gemini's number, remembering each digit with precision.
This was the world's prettiest number. No number can top this number. Ever.
He pressed his phone against his lips, smooching the screen over and over again until he buried his face once again in his pillow to scream. His feet flew in the air, pushing the comforter off his bed.
Zero sleep had bad consequences in the morning however, as he stared at his reflection and sighed. He looked like a zombie. The sleep deprivation was so obvious that you could even spot it from Mars. His eyes were red, and soulless and the one thing he wanted desperately was to sleep.
But he had an exam today, and as he raced to the study hall, he realized that he accidentally left his laptop behind. Cursing at his bad memory, he hurried to one of the back seats, before pulling his hoodie over his head. He wanted to be subtle and sleep, if possible, but his best friends made sure that there would be no sleeping today.
"Fot!" Win's loud voice reverberated around the study hall, earning everyone's attention.
Fourth groaned, greeting him with a small wave.
"Man, you look worse for wear" Win said, sitting next to him.
Win was what you would call, subtly handsome. He had his hair pulled into a bun, with a few strands falling by his cheekbones. His quizzical eyebrows were permanent on his face—a reason why everyone probably made space whenever he was walking. His entire build screamed dominance, but he was a complete marshmallow with his friends.
Following him like a puppy was Jan, their other best friend who was also an out-and-proud lesbian. She was dressed completely in black, with black eyeliner edging her eyes and dark lipstick enunciating her lips—Goth era is apparently back (her words). Unlike Win, she looked like a marshmallow but whenever she spoke, people would run away. She was known for her wit.
She walked behind Fourth to get to his other side, showing his head onto the table as she usually does. Jan and Fourth were like siblings, and often ended up fighting. Win was usually the middleman among them.
"Did you get drunk, Fotfot?" Jan asked, sitting next to him.
"I'm tired" Fourth said, suppressing a yawn as he gathered his books to form a small tower and placed his head on it, "Can you shut up?"
"Nope!" Jan replied, as Fourth stuck his tongue out at her.
Jan mirrored his expression, and Win just rolled his eyes at their childish antics.
"Alright ladies, stop fighting" Win sighed before sitting next to Fourth and placing his hand on the younger's arm.
"Oi!" Jan started, snapping her fingers at Fourth as she voiced her sudden realization, "Don't tell me you went to see TOXIC again. Is that why you look like an extra from The Walking Dead?"
Fourth groaned, hiding his face on the tower of books. Oh, he did better than just see TOXIC. A smile crept on his lips at the memory—he will probably never forget for as long as he lived—as he tried biting away the smile. But his best friends either had eagle eyes or unnecessarily inserted themselves in his love life.
