The first time Gemini saw Fourth was a pretty vague memory.
He was in kindergarten and would come early in the morning with his mom, who would drop him off at the gates of Denla kindergarten ("I'm big now, mommy. You don't have to come in with me") and she would drive off, leaving him with his massive blue bag and water bottle to slowly walk along the pathway towards class. He often saw kids crying whenever they came to school and Gemini would always wonder why he didn't cry. Was he actually incapable of crying or feeling anything? His mom would hug him tight everytime she dropped him off and he would cuddle for a bit. But he also knew that soon his mom would be right back to pick him up. When April was born, she had to focus more on April than him and soon Gemini found himself navigating his own way.
He wouldn't even have noticed Fourth if his attention wasn't caught by a boy running, screaming with a puppy running after him. Gemini was surprised and perhaps even a little scared until the security ran after the puppy and picked it up, while the boy would climb up a tree for safety. Gemini's parents never let him out of their sight so he had never considered climbing trees. As the security and the puppy went away, Tree Boy wouldn't still get down and so Gemini made it his mission to get him down immediately.
"Aren't you coming down?" He asked, eyes sparkling with curiosity.
Tree Boy peeked from behind the bark to look down at him. He had dark hair sweeping his nape and looked as pale as a sheet of paper. He was also shivering a lot. Tears tracks tainted his pink cheeks as he shook his head.
"What's your name?" Gemini asked, sitting down at the roots of the tree.
The boy just hid his face behind the bark once again, opting for silence. Gemini sighed, before picking up some wild grass and picked at it. He wasn't going to come down, but Gemini was determined to not leave that boy alone. He looked scared and the teachers haven't come yet either. Once there was a teacher, he would probably leave him alone.
But not right now.
"Are you scared of dogs?" Gemini questioned, knowing that he won't get an answer anyway.
"Y-Y-Yeah" came a small voice from behind him and he turned around, surprised.
Tree boy was starting to slid down from the tree, yet he still stood behind him, gripping onto the massive bark and peeking randomly at him. His eyes were beautiful and that was probably the first thing Gemini remembered about him. Gemini turned his torso to face the boy who looked away immediately.
He was still shy. Or maybe scared.
Gemini kept picking at the grass, turning his attention away from the boy. Soon he came forward and sat beside Gemini, crouching. Gemini noticed that the boy was avoiding something and he turned to face him. The boy smelled like baby powder, something Gemini's mother covered him entirely with usually. With chubby hands, Tree Boy wiped away his tear stains that coated his smooth skin.
"What are you doing?" Gemini asked, as the boy jumped away in fright.
He pointed at the cemented floor with a shaking finger, "G-G-Ghost..."
Gemini jumped at that too, as he grabbed onto the shaking boy's arm and started looking around, "W-Where?"
The boy slid Gemini's hand to touch his, thereby interlocking their fingers together and kept pointing at the ground, shakily. Gemini could practically feel the other's heartbeat align with his own, but at seeing practically nothing next to him, Gemini turned to face him with questioning eyes.
"Where?" He asked again.
As Tree Boy kept pointing, it took Gemini sometime until he realized that the boy was pointing at his shadow. Gemini blinked, confused as the boy hid his face on Gemini's stomach, starting to cry again.
