8. Liquor Courage

"Are you sure you're up for it?" Fourth asked Win, as they walked towards their lecture hall the next day morning.

Win inhaled as he looked around the almost empty hall and nodded at Fourth, "Mm. I suppose so"

They walked up to the fifth row and slid in the long table before sitting down. It was early in the morning and they were abruptly woken up by the dorm manager who was yelling at someone who had illegally brought in his girlfriend for a sleepover. Both Win and Fourth pretended as if Win was Fourth's roommate as they ran out of the dorm to class. This was way earlier than normal for both of them.

"I mean this is the first class you're attending after the whole kiss thing" Fourth said, pulling out his books from his backpack.

Win turned to glare at him, "Do you have to say it like that?"

Fourth shrugged as he unlocked his phone and stared at Gemini's message with a smile. Win shook his head with a chuckle.

"You're gonna burn a hole in your phone if you keep staring at that, yunno" Win commented and successfully ignored Fourth's pout.

"You're just jealous"

"Why the fuck would I be jealous of your crush who's, lemme remind you, not your boyfriend?"

Fourth gasped staring at his best friend in horror, "You take that back"

"Well, it is the truth" Win replied as Fourth launched himself on him to grab his throat.

"Ahem"

Fourth and Win stopped wrestling each other to stare at Jan who was staring at them with a subtle smile. Fourth raised his hand in greeting and Win nodded ever so lightly before looking away.

Shit.

He didn't realize how bad Win must be feeling after everything that happened. He was too immersed in his own happy bubble that he forgot that people existed beyond him and Gemini.

Win must be so upset right now.

"Do I even want to know what's going on?" Jan asked before plopping herself down next to Fourth, as she usually did.

"Nah, it's not—" Fourth started but was rudely interrupted by Win, who contradicted it.

"Gemini doesn't have a girlfriend" Win piped up.

"You—"

"I mean" Jan leaned back to brush her hair off her shoulder, "Wasn't that a fact?"

Win stared at Fourth, who stared at Jan, apologetically, "You didn't tell her?"

"Tell me what?"

Fourth sighed, sinking into his seat.

Today was going to be longer than he expected. And he had the game tomorrow too!

"I'll tell you lat—" he started but was once again one-upped by Win.

"So basically, Fourth thought that Gemini has a girlfriend because of something that happened at the... club" he paused to clear his throat and avoid eye contact with Jan entirely, "but it turns out that he doesn't. This boy is pretty vague about this, to be honest"

Jan crossed her arms on her chest, leaning into her seat as well. Fourth waited for the guaranteed string of curses aimed his way, but she just hummed.

"So, you're telling me that...—"

"Just forget about it"

"No, you shut up, I'm—"

Whatever Jan was going to say will always be a mystery because their lecturer came in with a new student. Win gasped next to him as Fourth tilted his head and stared at the new student. Or should he say returning student?
