Unable to catch a wink all night, Domen watches as his dark and cold room slowly fills in with the light peeping from the wide open curtains he didn't bother shutting.
Lavender didn't want anything to do with him to the extent that sharing a bed wasn't an option.
She took Myra's bed too. Sleeping in Penelope's room despite Heather begging her to sleep in their room instead.
Forgetting she has a husband.
So with everyone comfortable in their beds, warmed up by their dreams, Domen instead remains in a cold bed he used to share with Lavender...
Already missing how he'd have to wake up in the middle of the night to take care of Myra so that Lavender could get some rest.
It's only been a couple of hours, yet to Domen... It feels like an entire year has gone by.
His phone buzzes beneath the pillow, getting him to lazily surf the underside to fish out his phone.
Checking who's calling him at such an early hour makes him want to toss it over to the other side of the room.
Irritated.
It is none other than Evette, wishing to talk to him.
Through a damned video call.
He places his phone beside him and slumps his hand over his eyes as he doesn't want any more trouble.
Knowing too well talking to her alone is a crime at this point. Maybe even a sin.
He can't make any more mistakes... He can't afford it.
Things are already ad bad as they are.
The call finally stops the phone from spiralling into a panic attack, only to start over a few seconds later, filling the room with the silent yet irritating vibrations.
Domen sits up, letting the heavy blanket drape from his body as he grabs the phone and reluctantly answers the call.
As fast as she called, Evette appears on the screen, already grinning as she fixes the edges soft her beauty mask.
"Hey." The casual unaffected tone makes him roll his eyes as he lays back to his bed and places the phone on his chest, letting her stare at the ceiling. "Okay, okay, I should admit, that wasn't okay and the news was insane. But you have to believe I didn't do it."
"You played me, Evette, and now Lav isn't listening to me anymore." Domen sighs as he runs his fingers through his hair. "You obviously set me up. I kissed you because you said you'd end the engagement and instead I find it on the news!? Why!?"
"Domen, it's not me!" She hisses as she sits up and glares into the camera still viewing just the ceiling. "I promise."
"Sure, whatever." Domen rolls his eyes and sits up, finally bringing the camera to view him which only gets Evette to widen her eyes at how well he still keeps his body looking toned and defined in all the right places. "Then come clear things with Lav. Tell her yourself. She's going to take Myra and leave if you don't."
Evette looks away for a second. "No thanks." She clears her throat and smiles back at the camera while reaching a hand to the back of her neck. "I can't face her, plus... Aren't you being a little too inconsiderate to me? I told you to think about me... At least a little."
"Evette..." He sighs. "I... Look, I'm a father and-."
"Didn't I say to leave that aside at least?" Evette chuckles forcefully as she drops her gaze down to him. "A lot of men out there have children with countless women and are still single."
